“Very comfortable, clean and safe hotel”

The condition of the hotel is very good, clean, comfortable bed, food was ok, safe, very convenient with a full kitchen.

“Very nice hotel!”

This was my 2nd time staying here as a business traveller. Very nice hotel, clean and very comfortable suites. I have been here a total of about 8 nights in the past few months. There was one day where there was no hot water in the am. They offer a wonderful hot breakfast buffet as well as a small hot dinner buffet complimentary. The dinner is usually one choice, but they have a calendar telling guests what is on the menu such as: Philly cheesesteaks, or pasta salads, or hamburgers/hot dogs, swedish meatballs, to name a few. There are not very many restaurants or fast food places within walking distance though, so unless you have a car - you might be limited. If you drive about 2 miles into Newark you can find several places though. Newark has a very quaint little downtown area filled with unique shops and cafes characteristic of a college town. I would definately stay here again.

Dining

There is a really great restaurant called the Iron Hill Brewery in downtown Newark. It is kind of an upscale steakhouse - probably more for adults or older children - not younger kids.

“Would stay again when in Newark”

From the moment I arrived at this hotel the entire staff was nothing but helpful and pleasant. I started out each day with a great breakfast. The suite was comfortable and pleasant. Although at the intersection of two main roads my room was very quiet. The location is convenient to I-95 and it was easy to get around from Newark to Wilmington. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Homewood Suites Newark DE”

This hotel had everything we would want. Staff was awesome- friendly, attentive, available. They pulled out all the stops for graduation weekend. The whole place was booked and service level stayed at A+.

“Not impressed”

My room was fine but the breakfast was not. The eggs were cold. Food items were not replenished. The plates were paper. All in all, the breakfast was horrid. I would have been better off having breakfast at McDonalds or Dunkin donuts. Not worth returning to hotel at the price I paid.

“Liked Homewood Suites will consider them when I travel again!”

This was the first time we stayed at Homewood Suites. The suite was a nice size and had the desired two TV's so my chile and husband could watch their desired TV shows. The galley kitchen was a pleasant surprise. The bed, linens, pillows and decor were just fine. The free wifi was great. The European style bathroom was wonderful! Someone could wash up at the sink while someone either took a shower or used the toilet. The pool was wonderful and the free breakfast was icing on the cake. The only downside I saw with this room was that the carpeting seemed to have random orange stains in the sofabed area and in the bedroom. Just made me wonder if the carpet had been cleaned lately.

Area recommendations

This hotel is located across from the University of De football stadium. It was quiet this time of year which is what we wanted. There was a major chain lunch and dinner restaurant in walking distance. It had conveinent access to I-95.

“Nice but the college party across messed things up”

Well I love this hotel. it was my daughters 10th birthday, so we decided to do the sleepover party with the pool. It was very cold at first in the room where the pool was, but the nice maitence man tun the heat up in the pool. the girls really enjoyed it, i was impressed with how clean it was in the hotel. The breakfast was also great we really enjoyed it. A full breakfast selection. The only problem i had with this hotel is i had to call the from desk three times because they put a college party in the room right across the hall from us and it was so loud the party started at 2:30 am and i did not get good rest and neither did the girls and we had to be up at 7am to go to church service. Thats my only complaint. Would i stay again yes, only if they promise not to put a group of teenagers anywhere near us

“A Little Disappointing”

I would like to start by saying that they have the friendliest staff that I've ever experienced. The kitchen staff was excellent. They accomodated us and offering breakfast in the hotel rate was excellent. In fact, the breakfast was great every morning. But, the hotel rooms did not meet my expectations. Upon arriving our room had not been fully cleaned and they had to change our room which, they did quickly. We saw the information on how the hotel dealt with towels so, we knew how to request clean towels but, there was no indication in the room on how the hotel dealt with changing linen. For the five days we were there we did not receive clean linen. We complained that the room had not been cleaned while we were there and that someone just made the bed without changing the linen but, when they came the next day to clean the room they still did not change the linen. We were tired of complaining about the room and decided to talk directly to the manager but, could not reach him while we were there. I wrote a very thorough letter explaining our stay to him and I am still waiting for a response. So, we were quite disappointed in our stay but, if the hotel handelled the cleanliness issue we probably would be happy to go back.
