Just what we needed.

Posted May 20, 2014
Pros: Sofie was great!
Location: Front street just a few minutes away. The beach is 20~ minutes away.
My wife and I were looking for a nice place to get away to for the weekend. This place was great. Sofie made us feel at home, showing us with wine and good eats. Breakfast was one of the best parts of the trip. We got to meet others who were staying there and dine with them. Sofie made pretty much whatever we wanted. Also, 15 minute walk tops (or 5 min. drive) to front street. I would recommend this place and we plan on going back.

Lovely character home

Pros: Beautiful home and garden.
Lovely character home full of antique furniture and unusual furnishings. Sophie is a lovely warm, welcoming lady who fixed up a different breakfast everyday.

Important Info

Posted Jul 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
This is a B AND B, so it was necessary to carry our bags to the second floor. Only one room is "en suite", however that info was not on the website. I called ahead and found this out. If I had not my husband would have been VERY UNHAPPY!

Great Guest House for a historic feel

Posted Jul 8, 2013
Pros: The hostess Sophie was wonderful. Her breakfasts and afternoon snacks were so good and she shows her hospitality through her food.
Cons: Old homes needs constant upkeep.A few creaky steps and needs some paint. The tubs have shower curtains for the surround which make showering difficult.
Location: Only 15 blocks from the river with many great restaurants and bars.
My husband & I went to Wilmington for the first time for his cousin's wedding. I decided to try a B & B for the first time. We loved it! The hostess is very social and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and comfortable. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to Wilmington!

Great hospitality

Posted Jul 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
At first I was a little confused since I've never stayed at a guest house. I'm more familiar with a bed & breakfast. Clean, close to downtown, and the overall hospitality of Sophia make's you feel like you are at grandma's house again. I must mention if you like your bathroom connected to your room this isn't for you. Remember, you are in a guest house and the bathroom's are located down the hall like most homes. However, we had a great stay and would stay here again. Sophie's southern cooking is fantastic.

A Superlative Bed and Breakfast

Posted Jan 21, 2013
Pros: The inn keeper, the food, the location
I don't see any reason to stay anywhere else in Wilmington. The food and service are excellent, the room was wonderful, and the neighborhood is clean and quiet yet easy walking distance to all the attractions of downtown. This has been among the best B and B experiences I have ever had.

Wonderful getaway!

Posted Oct 10, 2012
Pros: Very welcoming
Sofia was a wonderful host - even making time out of her schedule to take us to a nice place for dinner. She made me feel like a true friend staying in her home. Her niece who was there the first day I checked in went above and beyond to make me feel welcome -- offering a late evening snack when it was well beyond the time that would be served. The place felt very homey and quaint.

Charming Wilmington B&B!

Posted Sep 30, 2012
We really enjoyed our two day stay at the Port City Guest House! The Green Room was absolutely charming. Sophia was a superb hostess. Convenient to Wilmington's wonderful downtown and waterfront attractions as well as Wrightsville Beach. Great value compared to other area B&B's. Two thumbs up!
