Beautiful house in great locationPosted Jun 15, 2015
Pros: Sophie is incredibly friendly and her breakfasts are amazing!
We drove up from Atlanta on Friday night and were greeted by Sophie and her friendly dog, Chase. We had a beautiful room on the second floor of the house with a view out towards Market Street. The neighborhood is beautiful and close to downtown. Sophie made incredible breakfasts for us both days and provided many recommendations for places to go and things to do. A wonderful visit! We'll be back!

Nice historic house with awesome hostPosted May 30, 2015
We stayed at the Port City Guest House for three nights and it was great. The house is over a hundred years old and the decoration inside are a great addition to make you feel you stay at a different time. The owner is very nice and make the time very convenient. The home made breakfast is awesome. Definitely worth to stay!

Lovely house near historic areaPosted Apr 29, 2015
Pros: The intimate cozy feel of the place.
Cons: Be sure to call first and ask about parking; it will make things much simpler in the long run.
Location: The historic area is near but you may want to drive to it as it is still many blocks away and parking there is very reasonable.
We are very glad we stayed at this BNB; the owner was delightful and went out of her way at every turn to make our stay enjoyable. We had a full, and I mean FULL, breakfast every morning and nice afternoon snacks, enough to delay dinner for a few hours. We don't normally stay at BNBs, but decided to this time so that we could get a better true picture of the area. It turned out to be a good move and we felt we had a very good feel of the area after 3 days. It was fun.

Come get spoiled!Posted Apr 1, 2015 on Hotels
Going to the Port City Guest House is kind of like going to your Grandma's place when you were little. Ms Sophie makes sure you feel welcome and comfortable, all the while spoiling you just like Grandma used to. One thing is for sure, you will never leave hungry. Between the home cooked breakfasts, chocolates everywhere, and the afternoon "snacks", me and my wife barely ate out while we were in Wilmington. There are 2 communal bathrooms upstairs for the guests (common among older B&Bs), but if you must have your own bathroom then stay in the Green Room which is the only room with it's own private bath. Parking can be a bit confusing if it's your first time, so just park on the street until you check-in and then Ms Sophie will direct you to the parking in back of the house. And for those animal lovers that had to leave their pet(s) at home, Chase (Ms Sophie's 'pup') is more than willing to accept all the rubbing and loving you might have stored up.

My First Stay at a Bed & BreakfastPosted Nov 9, 2014 on Hotels
Sophie will make your stay special. The food and hospitality are excellent. She made me feel at home away from home. I would definitely stay there again and will recommend it to family and friends. There is no sign in front of the house so just look for the address and park in back of the house. The entrance is from 16th street which is a one-way street.

Very nice! About a mile from front street!Posted Oct 23, 2014
We had a great stay! We showed up really late in in the evening and our host was up waiting for us and even cooked for us and made sure we got settled in. Our host had a list of events in the area all printed out and ready for us in our room. We felt very much at home there. Would definitely go back there again!
