This is a sketchy place!

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Pros: The location was convenient for our business in Wilmington and the room rate was much better than most other places. That's about all that was good.
Cons: See the 'experience' narrative above. Everything smelled bad and the bed needed to be replaced. The telephone wasn't user friendly to call another roo
Location: Beach, shopping, restaurants and more beach.
We booked this hotel using Expedia based on physical location in Wilmington NC and the good rate. It is not located near a beach, but is on a main street in town--not the nicest but seemingly in a safe area and the facility looks clean from the outside. Fortunately, it was fairly quiet both weekend nights with the slight exception of the large barking dog in the room next door who did not appreciate being left alone. Upon opening the room door, it smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. The armoire for hanging clothes smelled like dirty socks. The bed linens smelled strongly like cooking grease that did not dissipate over our 2 day stay. The king bed dipped in the middle, so both sleepers "rolled" to the center most of the time. There were no plugs in either the sink or the bathtub and the tub was heavily rust stained. The floors and tub otherwise appeared clean enough and the room itself was a good size. Security cameras were positioned to watch the walkways which should have given a sense of security but instead made us question why they should be so prominent. Would we stay here again? Absolutely no.

Terrible hotel

Posted May 11, 2014
Huge gap under door, paint peeling off walls, blankets and bed spreads dirty, floors were dirty, no garbage can in room. The next morning we went to continental breakfast and there were only 2 muffins on the counter and when we went to the front desk to ask where the food was the front clerk came out of the back eating. We left and will never go back.

Had to move room at 11pm

Posted May 9, 2014
Cons: security seems to bee lacking, no control of noisy guests who had friends visiting with motorbikes etc.
Original room was missing lamps and coffee maker. receptionist offered other rooms but they were in a similar condition. After trying to sleep had to move in the end to the opposite end of the motel at 11pm due to noisy party in corridor complete with barking dog!

Don't Stay there

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything
Location: It was centrally Located to everything
First appearance when we arrived was dingy looking. Getting to our room we had to weave through a large group of people drinking and disorderly. When we entered the room we found it stripped. There was no towels, refrigerator or even a phone in the room.People congregated in front of our room ,drinking and talking loud till early in the mourning [3:00 am]. My wife and i were afraid to say anything for fear of problems.

We got there about 2:30 and inquired if our room was ready to check into and the woman at the desk said no it wouldn't be ready till 3:00. She never asked our name or anything. When we had gotten out of our car we felt very uneasy about the people walking around there. We ended up moving to another hotel because we didn't feel comfortable staying there.

Would not recommend.

Definitely the worse Red Roof Inn I have been to. First room was beside a huge dump/trash area super far from the front, we had to request a new room because the beds had hair in them and bathroom was dirty. There is no wifi even though they advertise it online. When I told them it wasn't working the front desk just said "oh it's not working". No eta on when it would be fixed either. Would not recommend.

ok but...

Room was ok. Nice size and location. TV was not the best and the stations didn't line up with the listing guide given. Loud neighbors very eARLY IN THE am. There were more amenties than other budget motels. Sink had a ring of mold under lip that was gross. Also, floor was iffy as to whether or not it was clean enough to walk barefoot. The dog we brought kept sniffing at the bedspread leaving me to believe there had been another dog's urine. I think with a little more detail to cleaning, the room could have been a standout.

Cheap but man, could've at least had clean towels

Posted Dec 30, 2013 on Hotels.com
PROs: Decent price, pull-out bed in addition to large queen, cheap cab ride to downtown. CONs: dirty towels, dust and trash under/behind the bed and on the floor, sub-standard water pressure, people screaming at each other and hollering in the parking lot and across the street (around 6 or 7 PM).
