“Weekend Getaway”
We found the staff extremely friendly. Breakfast is limited to bagels, small donuts, and cereal. Room was clean. Overall nice experience.
“Not impressed”
their standard bed was 1 queen for two people. My reservation did not mentioned about that. the windows did not lock (1st floor) and smelled bad too.
“Good for the area!”
The Super 8 Motel in New Castle, DE, was a pleasant surprise--as the last one in this chain where I stayed was not! This one was scrupulously clean and well-maintained. It was a bit noisy, but the property sits on Rt. 13, Dupont Highway, which is the major north/south route thru the state. It is something like a 4 lane divided interstate highway with stop lights and u-turns. This makes for very tricky driving! There are decent restaurants nearby. There's also a big, very nice mall-Christiana Mall--within 5 minutes. The only disappointment was the 'complimentary breakfast'. It consisted of plain (rather stale) bagels and one type of mini-muffins.
“Decent for the money, but with some issues.”
We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights when vising University of Delaware. The hotel is located 15-20 min away from the University. The price we got was pretty good and it included some basic breakfast. Room was decent and it had a small fridge which we found useful for storing some food and a microwave (which we did not use). The staff was OK. Bathroom was quite clean. Staying at this hotel would have been satisfactory for the price, if it were not for the following: - first night we found a bed bug on a bed sheet; - room had a very strong smell of cigarette smoke (although the room seemed to have been designated as non-smoking), so strong that your clothes will smell too after being left one day in the room; -there is a firefighter station very close and the alarm might start to sound at night.
“First time at a Super 8 and last!”
I expected much more for the price I paid. Beds & pillows were as worn out as you can possibly get (woke w/ backache). Asked for more pillows got 1. Construction right under our room past 8 p.m. Rooms very small.
“Huge value for the money”
I don't usually write reviews but I was truly impressed with the motel. I'm an executive who usually stays in 4 or 5 star hotels. Arrived unexpected one night while on a trip on my motorcycle. Pouring rain out, I must have looked like a drowned rat, but they treated me like I walked in wearing an expensive business suite. Great service and a good room. Yes, there a fire station next door (America's heroes have to be someplace - you would have liked the response time if there had been a problem at the hotel, right?) but I never heard them. Only thing missing was an ironing board and iron, and I bet the attentive staff would have provided each, if I had asked.
“Quite serviceable”
The location is at a very busy intersection, but the room was quiet enough. The staff was friendly and fine. The cable TV service is above average.
“Cheap”
This hotel is very well priced, but the facilities are not very good. I liked the internet access and the air conditioning.
“not impressed”
beds are cheap and even though we were in a non smoking room the room and hotel reaked of smoke
“I usually stay at Four Seasons and would recommend this Super 8”
I was taking my thirteen year old son to his first nascar race, so I just booked the first motel I could find that was availabe with at least a three star rating. I was dreading it the whole time, I did not know what to expect. When we got there the staff was friendly and very helpful. The motel was very clean and it exceptionaly quiet. It was no Four Season but it was great for the occasion.
