Beautiful accomodations in beautiful English townPosted Sep 21, 2012 on Hotels.com
The house was beautiful with lovely gardens, service was excellent, beds were more comfortable than my own, the room was very clean and beautifully appointed. The town of Box is so quaint and has the friendliest people. Only 5 miles outside of Bath. We will come back next time we are in England.

Fantastic stayPosted Sep 5, 2012 on Hotels.com
Owners and service were terrific! We had a late arrival, but the owner met us and could not have been nicer. We had a 4 person family room on the bottom floor which surprisingly had more than enough space and a huge bathroon. Great full english breakfast every day and wonderful suggestions for parking in Bath (12 minutes away), activities and sites, daytrip to nearby Lacock and more. We will definately stay here again when we are in the United Kingdom.

A great find !Posted Sep 3, 2012
This little place was quite a nice surprise in a cute little town a few miles outside of Bath. The beds and bedding were that of a 5 star so we had our best sleep here. The English breakfast was delicious and served by a lovely young woman who made us genuinely feel that she cared that we ate well. Very welcoming in every aspect. The wet room was quite a nice surprise as well in our room. This was the home that the author of Thomas the Tank Engine lived. The food at the local pub, the Bear, was excellent.

Charming bed and breakfast, 5* servicePosted Sep 2, 2012
Pros: comfortable room, friendly service, delicious breakfast
Location: 15 minutes easy access drive from Bath
Brilliant bed and breakfast with a mix of modern and old day English charm. We enjoyed the connection with the author of Thomas the Tank Engine, who lived in the house. A lovely warm atmosphere, comfortable beds with stacks of books beside them (mostly related to famous figures who lived in Bath). Delicious breakfast with a range of fruit and preserves, with scrummy scrambled eggs too.

Lovely B&B - perfect stayPosted Aug 7, 2012
Pros: Good comfy bed and delicious breakfast
Location: Excellent, 20 minutes to Bath by local bus
Absolutely wonderful B&B ideally situated right on the main A4 just a few miles from Bath. We had a lovely, obviously newly decorated room with a "wet" area in the bathroom and power shower and bath. The owners were very friendly and helpful and the full English breakfast is filling and delicious - we cannot fault this B&B in any way and highly recommend it. It is only 20 minutes into Bath by frequent buses (the stop is across the road) and is cheaper than trying to park in the city.

Quiet, comfortable, convenientPosted Aug 7, 2012 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed the rural setting in the village of Box and found that the hotel was fairly easy to find and to use as a base for visiting the surrounding towns, especially Bath. The very old St. Thomas A'Beckett church in the village was a little bonus. The hosts at Lorne House were also very friendly and accommodating as were their staff.

a gem in BoxPosted Jun 21, 2012 on Hotels.com
We a party of four, enjoyed our stay at Lorne House - thought the quality of rooms and ensuites of a very high standard. The little touches such as cookies with tea/coffee facilites, magazines and toiletries provided were very welcome. The breakfast was top class - great variety of fruits, cereals and freshly cooked quality breakfasts. The village setting is quaint and the local pub a short stroll away while Bath is only a few miles down the road. All in all would highly recommend.

Lovely B&B, but our room was bit of a let downPosted Jun 14, 2012 on Hotels.com
Great location, very easy to get into Bath. Car parking a bit tight but we managed okay. Manager was very welcoming. We had the room on the lower ground floor. Decor outside the room was a bit shoddy, lovely decorated inside the room. Wet room was very modern and spacious, quite a draught from the window though. Bedroom was large; but we couldnt open the window. Dont have much experience of B&B's so not sure if it's the norm but there wasnt many tv channels available. Free wifi though which was good. Lots of choice for breakfast (fruit/cereal/full english). Our main negative point however was that our room was situated under the dining room so from 7am you are awake with the noise of footsteps and chairs scraping - that was a letdown.

Port Gaverne - Hotel with PersonalityPosted Jun 10, 2012
Pros: Great staff
Cons: Avoid top story rooms
Location: Great location - out of the tourist alley but a few minutes walk to central Port Isaac. Views to die for.
Room 4 was great but those up in the nose-bleed roof level were a little too pokey for my taste - but clean, pleasant and enchanting all the same. Great atmosphere and great staff.

Great B & B, lovely staff, very helpful. It was unusually hot when we went and there is no air conditioning. Fan would be helpful. Also very noisy in front room with the window open. The heat would probably not be a problem most of the time. Would recommend. Nicely renovated and comfortable room.
