"Excellent overnight or short stay Hotel"
Very clean and tidy room. Bed: A very large and supportive bed that might suit most people but, I found it too hard to get much sleep. My wife who suffers back problems had to sleep on top of the duvet to gain any comfort. This was only a one night stay so it was difficult to rectify. If you have long legs they might overhang the bed but the width is excellent for two! Internal accommodation block: inboard rooms overlook the lovely Hotel gardens, outboard view less inspiring of office buildings and backs of houses. On balance you don't spend too much time looking out of the windows so this is an observation only. Bathroom: very consistent hot water- doesn't run out. An otherwise clean bathroom but noticeable mould on shower wall outlet and some stained lime scale in the loo. Okay, no big deal but for the room cost it slightly marred the stay - these small pointers were made aware to reception upon checking out. TV: Large wall mounted tv. the red led always on- makes you paranoid you aren't being watched at night-creepy. In room Tea and Coffee: could do with more sachets. Wardrobe: NO trouser press insight, yaay! Nice to see wooden coat hangers for a change along with a proper iron and ironing board. Functional bar and the lounge is relaxing. Excellent Full English Breakfast along with varying cereals, fruit or toast/ croissants etc on offer. We liked the buffet style FEB selection so you could pick and choose what you wanted and when you wanted it.

"Nice hotel close to town"
Lovely hotel, a smile from the staff would have been nice at some point. The maitre d at breakfast was excellent and pulled out all the stops with a friendly and professional manner, but the rest of the staff needed to at least look as if they wanted to be there.

"Luxury hotel, great base for visiting Winchester"
Lovely room, friendly staff and attractive bars and restaurant. We ate in one night and felt the standard of food was not up to the standard of the hotel. Can't comment on breakfast as we had a room only rate. The hotel is centrally located, perfect for shopping and exploring the historic city. We will definitely return and will happily stay at th Hotel du Vin again.

"Good central location"
Always friendly and helpful on reception, a little overwhelmed in the restaurant when very busy, but coped well. Some of the spa staff could be a little more helpful. On the whole a pleasant stay.

"Brilliant! The best of England."
This is our second stay and both my son and I adore the place. It has such wholesome delicious feel to it. The beds are comfy, breakfast delicious, and the entire place is full of character. Highly recommend!

"Comfortable, cosy and friendly"
The service of the staff was excellent. Reception were very helpful, friendly and charming. We had afternoon tea which as excellent and then dined there one evening. The room was clean and beautifully presented and very comfortable. My only fault that one afternoon we ordered drinks which half an hour later did not arrive, and when we asked for the cheese platter after dinner to be sent to our room, it didn't arrive either. On both occasions we advised reception and they apologised and ensured it did not appear on the bill, but we would have preferred to have had the drinks and cheese!

"Friendly hotel close to Winchester "
The staff were all very friendly and welcoming and the food was delicious. The public areas were very nice and everywhere was very clean, however, our room was a little shabby, particularly the bathroom, which had a hopeless shower over the bath

"Lovely, Restful B&B"
We stayed 2 nights at Little Mead, and it was a delightful experience. There was some miscommunication about the timing of our arrival (we needed to arrive well in advance of the 4pm check-in time), but the hosts graciously allowed us to deposit our luggage in the hallway so that we could head out for a day of touring, arriving back to 'officially' check-in at the proper time. There are 2 dogs on the premises, who are extremely friendly and well-behaved. We enjoyed their company. The breakfast was bountiful and delicious! The hosts were extremely helpful in assisting us to figure out the bus schedule and travel options to LHR. A local, reliable bus runs between the village of Sparsholt and the city of Winchester hourly except Sundays and bank holidays), and the bus stop is mere steps from the B&B. We found this to be extremely convenient, since we did not want to hire a car for just 2 days.

    Winchester, Hampshire Hotel Guide

The ancient capital of England, and once the seat of King Alfred, historic Winchester is famous for its magnificent cathedral begun in 1079, and venerable Winchester College founded in 1382. The picturesque area around the Cathedral Green has changed little over the centuries, and offers good places to eat, drink and shop. A short walk across the water meadows, the 12th-century Hospital of St Cross is England’s most perfectly preserved almshouse.
