The hotel was very clean comfortable and the staff was lovely! However I think A few little personal touches would be nice maybe put two bottles of water in your room or there's two people in perhaps a couple of snacks. And one little bottle of shampoo for two days

Have to pay to park

Posted Apr 12, 2015
There was some many things wrong with stay I don't know where to begin. First you have to pay for parking but that doesn't mean you actually have a place to park. The size of the room was a joke, I've seen walk in closets big than room 510. Are last night in town we stayed at a different hotel, it was $40.00 cheaper almost double the size of the room and had plenty of free parking.

Nice but disappointing

Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: I like that I grew up in this town and returned to find a "Grand Landmark" restored.
Cons: Hotel Menu needs help. They have a Bar and a Pub, need real food, menu is "cheap" and not up to par for this type of hotel. Basic Bar Food!
Location: Lots close by, historic area with good food and shopping near by...just don't drive or you can't park when you get back!
Nice Hotel in Historic location. The room was OK but not what was expected from photo's on Travel website. Room was much smaller, no four poster beds or antique furnishings, no grand tub, or fire place in room with, sitting area and eating area. Bathroom was OK, great sink area, but tub was obviously "leftover" from old hotel days...just new tile. We were "stuck in a back corner" with only a view of the roof top to the adjoining building. We paid for parking at the "hotel lot" only to leave for dinner and come back to find we had NO PARKING SPOT. Our car was "taken away" and parked at an "Alternate Location." We did not know where our care was and had to ask for it to be "retrieved" when needed. I expected much more. Then to top it off, we had secured the room thru a "discount site", on the morning we left a "bill" was placed under our door showing "much less" then we had prepaid and that included the extra $$$ for the "parking". When I questioned the Auditor about this I was advised I should not have seen this "bill" as it was for the "website." The significant "difference" was given to the Website????? NOT GOOD BUSINESS!!!!!

Pros: Wonderful facilities, comfortable bed, lovely pool and restaurant. Loved the outer facade and little historical details.
Cons: Can't really think of anything.
Location: I didn't stay long enough to really explore the town, I'm afraid.
I was here for only a short stay, but I had a lovely time here. The hotel has a historical feel and is very handsomely decorated. The room was of good size (with a nice bathroom and a VERY big shower). The pool downstairs is decorated like a Greek bath, very pretty! Had a good hearty breakfast at the restaurant downstairs and then went for a walk around the surrounding town--lots of quaint old buildings and snow, when I was there (early March).

Small, gracious, reasonable.

Pros: It has an old-world feel, and it's been renovated tastefully. And frankly, we love the horseshoe shaped bar, frequented by interesting people.
Cons: Our room could have been more spacious. But it was extremely reasonable.
Location: As stated, Civil War sites, including Stonewall Jackson's HQ.
This was our fourth stay in several years, and again, it was a very rewarding one. It was on a Thursday, so we got to hear a bluegrass concert in the ballroom, a monthly occurence at the hotel. Very enjoyable. Winchester has a rich history, especially concerning the Civil War, and we hope to take in more of the sites over our next visits. Yes, we will be back, on our journeys south and north.

Great Valentine's Present

Extremely clean and well kept stay. Loved the pool and hot tub. Also loved the large bathroom and the high ceiling in the room. The room was also nice and quiet. I look forward to visiting here again soon.
