Homey Windsor (Canada) hotel, riverside border USA

Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: I liked the location of this downtown hotel within short (10 minute) walk to casino (Caesar's Windsor). Short walk to Detroit Tunnel bus station.
Cons: I would like to have had an in-house cafeteria.
Location: Location is great for: Ten minute bus ride to Via Rail train station, easy walk to casino, nice to Detroit riverside walkway, 'Tunnel' bus to USA.
I had a comfortable three night stay. After I had attended a conference at nearby Caesars Windsor hotel/casino, I took a 30 minute bus ride on the the 'Detroit Tunnel Bus' to the Canada-USA border. Return trip's border crossings were quick with pleasant Border Patrol officers (USA and Canada.) I enjoyed several hours 'walk-about' in downtown Detroit and along Detroit's very pleasant riverside walkway.

Great View, about all

Posted Oct 20, 2014
Pros: Front desk staff
Cons: major renovation
Location: casino, restaraunts
This hotel could be one of the worst kept hotels I've ever stayed in. Service at the front desk was great. But after that it goes downhill quickly. I actually took my Ipad back downstairs after seeing my room to ask if I was in the right hotel. The room looked nothing like the Expedia pictures. I paid for the "upgraded" room but the upgraded room was not the one you see in the pictures, the upgrade is the view. From old mattreses, old furniture, carpet stains that I'm glad I don't know what they were, it was just overall not a good experience.

Pros: close to everything
Cons: could use some updating
Location: Great!
This is an older hotel and could use some remodeling but it was within walking distance to casino and all the pubs. We had a great time bar hopping and would stay here again! The price was right!

Pros: Nothing
Cons: It would need a lot of work to improve that hotel.. it is trash and outdated especially for the price you pay.. I would have slept better in my car
The room and bathroom was dirty and smelt bad, their were burnt holes in the comforter and you can tell that their was burnt holes on the counter tops on the telephone, the toilette paper wasn't even full, their was no shampoo bottles. It was so dirty that I was scared to sleep in the bed. The tv channels were all blurry. You can tell that the room was really outdated, I definetly wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. It made me feel like I was staying in a dump that got trashed by crack heads....

Slept comfortably

Posted Sep 30, 2014
Slept overnight only, it was ok. The hotel should be rated 2 star, the staff were nice though.

Run down rooms, dirty carpets & Furniture.

Posted Sep 29, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Please see my experience notes
Location: Some restaurants, and Detroit across the River.
I would not stay at this hotel again. The hotel was run down, the hallways were dirty and smelled terrible. The beds were not comfortable, the TV's looked like they were from the 70's. the carpets and furniture were very dirty. When I asked for more pillows I was told they did not have anymore. I was not told I had to pay for parking but when I checked out I was told it was $10 per day. I don't think I need to say more.

Decent clean and quiet in a good location

Posted Sep 28, 2014
Right on riverside drive. close walk to Hiram Walker facility. The Art museum, sculpture park, casino and plenty of restaurants. The room was quiet, comfortable and clean. The wifi was strong, but the exercise room is in need of maintenance and some TLC for the weight machine, tread mill and bike. The pool is ok for a few short laps but there is no lav or shower close by. Don't come here thinking you can get a workiut done inside, but if you love an outdoor run or fast walk then you will be very happy here.

Nice location, great view

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Location and view
Cons: Lobby & rooms need updating. More ice machines and a restaurant would be a plus.
Location: Location is great if going to Ceasers and the view is great.
Rooms need a total make-over. Wallpaper was falling of the wall & carpets were stained beyond recognition of original color.

Poor accommodations

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Only person on the floor and didn't put us facing the river. Tv didn't work, cleaning lady barely did anything. And the hotel staff was rude with all 3 times I spoke with them.
