Aurora Shady Glen Tourist Park

This was a Tourist Park and was very comfortable - shady and bushy which was lovely and the grounds and park was very clean and tidy with lost of areas for enjoyment e.g. barbecue pool etc.

Close to relatives and Airport

Unfortunately, we were attending a funeral, so this was a flying visit for us, so we did not have the pleasure of enjoying our surrounds as much as we would have liked. So at a quick glance, we thought that the setting of the park was very well laid out, lots of shady trees, plenty of shower/toilet blocks, bbq areas dotted about plus swimming pool. Would return to Aurora and take time to enjoy next time. Our one bedroom villa or cabin was comfortable enough for our needs at this time, but would prefer something a little more pampering.

Good facilities, poor service.

Pros: Great facilities and surrounds - the grounds were very attractive.
Cons: Little information and minimal instructions.
Location: Located in Winnellie, in a more industrial area, but few outside facilities (i.e. supermarket) very close.
We arrived a bit early but no effort was made to welcome us. We were just told to come back later. Our cabin had been vacated but was to be the last one cleaned - they refused to consider to change this even though there were no other early arrivals. There was no information folder in the cabin. The boom gate code was given but the operation of the gate was not explained resulting in our inability in getting in later. This would have been a problem had we returned after reception had closed. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the cabin & it's facilities although the provision of just one dessert spoon & 2 soup spoons (there was 3 of everything supplied) seemed a bit strange. Similarly there were 3 odd breakfast/desert bowls, only small containers for food preparation/use in the microwave. We would certainly go there again but would not recommend it to someone expecting reasonable service.

Pros: All the birds outside.
Cons: The front desk attitude.
Location: On a public bus line- in an industrial zone.
Oh boy- where do I begin? Should I mention the flickering lights & air/con, leading finally to a blackout. All day, into the night; it was finally corrected at night. But the power surge destroyed my radio/mobile charger/nightlight. Front desk staff, previously rude & disrespectful, refuse both compensation, & to change my cabin. No hot water for two days. Mildew soaked shower curtain, replaced 1/2 way into my stay. Oh, did I mention the constant airplane jet noise overhead. Not surprising, considering it's location across from both military & private airfields. It didn't help that I am a light sleeper. If you're real desperate for a cheap place; try a backpacker's hostel downtown- I hear they're friendly & accomodating.
