Such a relaxing gem to find.
Service was over the top excellent! Breakfast was delicious and ends with a surprise ice cream sundae. Beautiful place and just a fantastic home away from home to unwind.

I think this is the B and B I have stayed at. This is my 3rd time. The inside is beautiful. Richard the ower is probably the kindest person you will ever meet. He knows the area well to suggest restraunts. He also knows the history of the home. Amazing 4 course breakfast ending with ice cream. I am not a big ice cream person especially in the winter. I have never had an ice cream Sundae like this so good!

SPECIAL! We are so lucky to be staying in this beautiful mansion with the most passionate innkeeper! There are so many special touches that have been prepared for guests from the wine greeting check in to the special toiletries in the bathroom. This mansion is beautiful and meticulously cared for. Did I mention the cute tea room? What a treat to have found this cool place!

The Alexander Mansion was our first experience at a Bed and Breakfast and it was absolutely fabulous. Richard made us feel very welcomed and is charming and wonderful host. Upon our arrival, he provided us with fine wine while enlightening us with a tour and the history of the mansion and the area. We were in awe with the beautiful historical decor in the mansion. Richard served an awesome five course breakfast while we enjoyed the company of the other quests. Thank you Richard for sharing your beautiful home with us. Our 1st B&B experience was above and beyond our expectations and was a truly wonderful experience. We hope to return again next year.

The mansion is a very old an historically significant piece of property in both Winona and Minnesota. The owner, Richard, is a very gracious host and wonderful cook. Our lower level "basement" room was overly spacious with 3 rooms and a walkout to our car. Wine and after dinner drinks complimentary. Would highly Recommend . Bobb Fielder

Step Back in Time
This is an outstanding bed and breakfast. It was as though we had stepped back into a previous century. The ambience is of a bygone era of elegance. The breakfast consisted of 4 delicious courses. The other guests were delightful and the host is attentive and knowledgeable.

Trip down memory lane
My visit to Winona was to revisit places from when I lived there 50 yrs ago. I chose Alexander Mansion as it matched closely the home we were placed in as the pastor for a local church. And it did bring back memories! I was flooded with nostalgia and happy memories, from mom making us dust the bannister spindles to having to use a step to get into the high beds. And the wrap around porch and the multiple fireplaces. Every where I looked, I relived happy memories. Richard was a gracious host with helpful tips. And not enough good things can be said about the breakfast. Plan your day accordingly as you will be stuffed from the 5 course breakfast! Even when I was the only guest, he went all out!

Richard is an amazing host, and we have never had such a personal interaction at a Bed and Breakfast! If you have a chance to stay here, you must do it! You will leave with a full stomach and a full heart! One of our best travel experiences yet!

I write this for my fellow corporate travelers
I am a ‘lifetime platinum Mariott rewards’ (now bonvoy) member and all that means is that I’ve spent a lot of nights away from home in very systematic and sanitized corporate accommodations. As a business traveler, ‘no surprises’ are very important to me so that I can focus on the business I am cultivating. So I write this realizing now that climbing the point ladder is fine but lacks depth and meaning. My stay at Alexander Mansion (Richard’s Mansion) was a welcomed introduction to a meaningful stay. Richard (innkeeper) is the key to this meaningful experience. He is humble, warm and welcoming. He cares about you and that is ever present throughout your stay. Surprises are plenty in a home that was constructed more than a century ago. Not a hidden USB port in the lamp kind of surprise but gorgeous woodwork and craftsmanship that you could look at for hours, actual working fireplaces (wood burning), and on and on. It starts and ends with Richard. Let him usher you into his world for a night. Slow down, kick back and relax. You won’t be disappointed. If you are in a hurry, you might be.

A beautiful mansion and a gem of a host
A fabulous stay at this historic B&B. Richard was an engaging host with every attention paid to detail in providing for our comfort and getaway experience, including complimentary wine and an Irish Cream nightcap! The four course breakfast and dining room setting was a treat to savor. We also enjoyed the library and furnishings immensely. I truly don't know how Richard does this day after day with such ease and enthusiasm, but he apparently does! Hosts like him are truly an exception. Thanks, Richard; we can't wait to return and only wish we could've stayed even longer.

Staying at the Alexander Mansion was a fantastic experience. I loved the room, which came with luxurious towels and robes. The mansion is decorated beautifully, and the breakfast in the morning is scrumptious. Everything was amazing! Richard is a wonderful host.
