marginal hotel but close to campus

Posted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: proximity to WFU.
Cons: everything...this place needs a makeover as everything in it is old and dingy.
If it wasn't for the fact that this property is within a mile of Wake Forest University, I wouldn't stay here. When I fly in to see my son, I only have a few days so I want to be as close as possible so this place is one of the few choices within 5 minutes. Every area of this place is tired...the entrance, the lobby, the bar/breakfast area, the rooms, elevator, halls..etc. The weekend I was just there, all the the ice machines had been removed from all four floors. Since the bar was open Saturday night because there was a 40th class reunion, I could get some ice-the next night, nothing. I was told they were out for repair...really? all four just happened to break down at the same time and you sent them out instead of having someone come to fix them???? Gourmet breakfast? Coffee, saran wrapped bagels, cereal and yogurt...nothing gourmet about it. Just call it what it is and quit setting everyone's expection at a level you don't achieve. For all that is wrong with this place, I do have to say that the staff has always been great. I wish they had a better enviornment to work in and would like to see Ramada do more to spruce the place up....it's a dog.

Location: In walking distance to Wake Forest University.
On my first night's stay, my room was next to mechanical equipment that made noise the entire night. I did not get a good night of sleep, especially after arriving at 2330 and tired. The hotel did change my room the next day. For the price the hotel was acceptable.

Think twice

Dark with a cold feeling. Had it been earlier in the night, I would have looked for another place to stay. The pictures on Expedia are not representative of the actual hotel. Hard bed, noisy A/C and not clean. Dated.

Definitely work what I paid

Pros: Exceeded expectations
Cons: Hard to see from the road
When I saw the outside from the highway I was worried but when I got to the front and inside the building I was amazed at how attractive everything was and all the amenities. My room was very nice and clean. E'van in the spa stayed until after 10:00 to do my nails! Excellent service.

Hotel near Wake Forest University

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Location. Room A/C worked very well on a very hot day!
Cons: Fit and finish in common areas, elevators, etc need attention. Breakfast a little light for expectations.
Location: .8 miles from Wake Forest University and across the street from Lawrence Joel Coliseum and BB&T Field.
Great location. This property recently converted from a Sundance Hotel to Ramada. Appeared to be in the throws of renovation. Many ads still up from Sundance days advertising Jazz on Friday nights, but when asked, staff indicated they no longer have live bands. No A/C in hallway on the first floor. Rooms nice, common areas need some TLC.

Hotel Needs a Lot of Work

Posted Aug 25, 2014
Pros: Its vicinity to Wake Forest University.
Cons: Dehumidify the rooms. A lot more TLC overall.
I spent two nights in this hotel while moving my sons into Wake Forest University. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me! I am truly shamed. Two years ago, we reserved several rooms per graduation and agreed to the hotel's non-refundable terms. When we arrived with grandparents and family in tow we were told there were no rooms available due to a "plumbing problem". Nobody had called us in advance to warn us! They did help to find us alternative accommodations, but I vowed then never to stay there again. Enter this week. Due to making late arrangements, my preferred hotels were not available. I decided to give this hotel another chance due to its vicinity to the university. Big mistake. The room was basically clean (other than a moldy shower curtain), but DAMP. Maybe WET would be a better description. The second night was worse than the first. We called guest services, who offered to switch rooms for us, but based on elevator conversations with other guests who claimed their rooms had little or no air conditioning or a multitude of other problems, we decided to stick it out. We suffered the night with a few drier blankets and then dried out our clothes in our next hotel. Unfortunately, I left some clothes in the hotel when we left. I am still trying, 3 days later, to figure out how to have them forwarded to me. This was a bad experience and I would not advise anyone to stay there.
