Nice rooms but that's it

Front were not very cheerful. Hallway and stairwell were dark and paint wad peeling. Things appeared unmentioned. Breakfast was very bland and scarce of choices.

Hotel was okay

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Pros: The room was okay and comfortable.
Cons: The amenities could be improved and the staff needs some improvements as well.
Location: The location was good. There was lots of places to eat and plenty of shopping.
Upon arrival the room was not ready. We had to wait for the room. The people in front of us had to wait also because their room wasn't ready. We didn't arrive until after 3:30 p.m. When we got to the room there wasn't enough towels and there was no coffee to make. Also we asked for a refrigerator so we could keep our medicine on refrigeration. The refrigerator was there but not plugged in. It took hours before it was cold enough to use. We asked for towels and coffee and the desk clerk said to ask the maid outside our room for those items. The maid then refused to give us the towels because she had left 2 in the room and there were 2 beds so that was all that was allowed. She had no coffee with her. I went back to the desk and she gave me coffee but we had to wait until that night before we got the towels. There were 4 of us on the reservation. The maid was very rude. The desk clerk at check in was very nice and tried to be as helpful as possible. The next morning the clerk was not so nice. There was no decaf coffee and they would not make any. I cannot drink caffeine. So I was not very happy! As for as the room it was nice enough and we were comfortable. It was everything else that wasn't good!

Nice hotel. Hallway lighting poor. No elevator although only 2 floors. Kind of dated but clean.

Adequate

Posted Feb 25, 2015
Pros: Room was good size. Nice to have a refrigerator. Cleaner than expected. Good parking area.
Cons: Vacuum around the edges of the rooms. Improve breakfast offerings. Use Kilz or other sealer type paint in hallway and replace that carpet.
Location: Walking distance for eating.
Minimal, skimpy breakfast. Relatively clean. Needs a good vacuuming around the edges. Rooms are smoke free smelling though hallway had a strong old smoke smell. Hallway was also dimly lit. Pool area looked very nice though too cold outside to give it a whirl. Could tell work was being done to improve the hotel. Within walking distance (a block at most) of Manny's, a casual steakhouse.

The room was extremely dirty and when I complained they admitted that they forgot to clean the room. They then offered us another room that they guaranteed would be clean and it was almost as bad. The place was very run down and creepy and the general manager wouldn't even talk to us and they refused to give our money back when I told them I wouldn't let my kids sleep there. We had to travel 30 mIles to sleep in another hotel because all the others in town were booked up but it was worth it to not have to stay at the Howard Johnson.

Pros: LOCATION
THE SLIDING GLASS DOOR TO MY ROOM DID NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY AND WAS HELD IN PLACE BY A METAL BAR. EVEN WITH ALL THE LAMPS IN THE ROOM ON, IT WAS DARK IN THE ROOM. THE HOTEL SIGN WAS NOT LIT AT NIGHT.

the rooms were ok and the continental breakfast could have been better. They seem to be short staffed.

Nothing great about location but very reasonable price and the rooms were very clean and quiet. The breakfast was also quite good if a bit simple.
