The Price is Right!
Posted Jan 7, 2013
Cons: The only thing I would suggest is that there be a desk assistant after 4 pm. It causes some concern to pick up one's key from the mailbox.
Location: Nice and close to the mountain, just a short drive away.
While this hotel may be a blast from the past, for what you pay, it is more than worth it!

Horrible

Only freezing cold water shower and sinks included... Couldn't even get a return phone call about no hot water.

Basic accommodation but good value for the price
Posted Jan 2, 2013
Cons: Limited time when staff is on premises for check-in.
Location: Easy to find, on highway at edge of town.
Room was small but adequate and comfortable. A good value for the price. You need to be there close to the check-in time of 4 PM; much later and there is likely to be no one there, off-season.

Needs work
Posted Jan 23, 2013
Pros: Walking distance to town and bus stop is right at the front of the hotel.
Cons: Walls are paper thin. You can hear everything in the rooms next to you.
I stayed here earlier in the year when they were still serving breakfast and dinner which made the hotel a better value. The hotel was built in 1940 and the furniture looks like it is the original furniture. Hotel needs some major updating.

Not worth the savings
Posted Jan 22, 2013
Pros: Staff was helpful and kind.
Cons: Too loud, needs restoration and repairs
Location: The location was great. Right down the road from Winter Park Ski resort.
I arrived late in the night (2am) and the staff did a good job of contacting me prior to my arrival and give me the instructions on getting my room. I selected a room with two beds, but when I arrived I only had one bed. The person who was coming with me canceled so it wasn't a problem, but it could have been a problem. The next morning I found out that breakfast was no longer served because it was late April. (near the end of their busy seaason) I took a shower which was quite a challenge. First it was too hot, then it was too cold and I never could get it right. Then the drain would not drain, so as I showered the floor began to fill with water. The first night the electric was not working in any of the outlets. I told the staff in the morning and they were quick to have someone fix it. In the weekend I found out that the atmosphere in the hotel was a lot like a college dorm. Lots of yelling, running up and down the hallways, people chasing their dog, one person banging loudly on their room door at 1am, etc. The walls were very thin and not sound proof at all. All in all, this is an old building that is in need of a lot of restoration. Even though the price was good, I would spend a little more and have a more pleasant experience.
