“Great overall value”
In mid-October I needed to get 3 rooms for my wife and I, three kids age 5 and under, nanny, and mother-in-law while we visited Wisconsin Dells. We looked at staying in the Dells, but even the off-season rates cost a small fortune for any of the hotels. The ones on the low end of the spectrum were rated as "very poor" by other travelers, so we looked outside of the Dells.
The Days Inn Portage hotel is a tremendous value. Being only a 20 minute freeway drive away, it's easy to find and will save you a TON of money.
The main entrance is remodeled and looks very nice. The complimentary breakfast has everything - muffins, bagels, cereals, juices, bacon, ham, eggs, and even a waffle making machine.
The rooms were small, but with enough walking space at the entrance and around the queen bed. The bed was adequate for sleeping, but not the most comfortable. The HVAC system was very powerful and could heat up the room or cool it down in seconds.
The bathroom\shower was clean, had high volume hot water, and a wide arc shower curtain rod so you didn't feel cramped. Overall, very good actually.
The room was a tad noisy in that we could hear people stomping around in the room above ours, but most hotels suffer from "people" noise problems.
Finally, the free wireless internet access worked great with my iPod Touch.
We'd definitely stay again.
