Too pretentious...Posted Jan 29, 2015
This many starred hotel is too pretentious... Too many dark hallways with subdued lighting makes it difficult to find room numbers. There is no need to compartmentalize toilet and shower into rooms with glass walls... The faucets on the bathtub are awkwardly placed at the side rather than the front which interferes with entrance into the tub... The swimming pool is at a different level than the changing rooms which means parading in ones bathing suit in front of multiple staff who appear to have nothing more to do than stare or press an elevator button to help you and wish you a pleasant trip on your elevator ride down one flight. Hotel has great location but ambience is much too formal and unnecessarily complex.

Excellent!Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Facilities, service, brunch options, location
Cons: The day of our arrival the girl at the check in answered our questions in a condescending tone, an isolated event that in no way represents the hotel.
Location: An oasis in the middle of everything.
This hotel is just wonderful...the rooms, the facilities, the food, the service. It's very close to everything but the location is extremely quiet and secluded. Tons of options for brunch, nice beds, great bathrooms. Overall a fantastic experience.

Very smart hotel in a great, quiet central spot.Posted Nov 13, 2014
Pros: Location Room rate great value for money Quiet Smart
Cons: Breakfast was a silly ( expensive) price
Location: Walk the old city walls Terracotta Warriors Emperor Jingdi's tomb
Located within the old city walls, the hotel is part of an area of smart hotels, restaurants and a theatre in a leafy and unbelievably quiet area known as Renmin Square. The Sofitel hotel is the landmark building on the main road which most taxis will get you to and the Mercure is in the square behind this. Loved the location and staff were extremely helpful and spoke good english. The room was lovely and the hotel overall is finished to a high standard. The room rate was astonishingly good value for the location but I felt anything extra, like breakfast was very, very expensive for China so ended up eating out.

The Not So Grand MecurePosted Nov 13, 2014 on Hotels.com
By Chinese standards of yesteryear, I'm sure this was a top notch hotel. Overall VERY clean and things were in good condition. A little dated decor and lighting, but very good value for the price. In addition, as many other people have noted, you get the benefit of restaurants, clubs and gym (beautiful pool) at the Sofitel in the same complex. Great location for exploring Xi'ann

Nice complex, very securePosted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: The hotel complex was very pleasant and nice. Our room overlooked a school's soccer field, which was fun. T
Cons: The breakfast could have more quality and less quantity.
While they said they gave us a king bed, it was just a double. Yet the room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was extensive, but not great. Adequate would best describe it.
