“I love smaller, older hotels”

I always look for the "mom and pop" type of hotel/motels. They tend to be less noisy and often more friendly. The rooms at this hotel were nice and had extra amenities often not included at other hotels. There was a refrigerator and safe that were not extra. We spent a week in the hotel and the staff called us by first name after the second day. I was impressed! The hotel was off the beaten path and in the downtown area...I felt safe. I have placed family in this hotel and they have enjoyed it, too. Will continue to book rooms for those who visit.

When to go
Be sure to visit during the summers for the best peaches, cherries and apples! The wine country is great, too. The Greenway is a wonderful place to walk...trees, very wide asphalt path for safety.

“Happy with this choice”

This was my second stay in this property, but the first as a Gueshouse Int'l. For the money, it is a very worthwhile choice. The service at check in/out was excellent and very courteous. The grounds were clean and tidy. The 2 rooms were clean, in good order, and comfortable. My wife and I were in one room, and two other family members in the second. We all praised the hotel, with one exception: we agreed the beds were very firm, which impacted our sleep quality. Other than that, the stay was excellent for the price, and we will stay here again when we are in Yakima.

Area recommendations
Hotel staff willingly recommended places for dinner and breakfast, but we tried to find our own choices in the phone book. We tried Porto'n for Mexican food, but were disappointed--that is mostly a reflection of the great Mexican food we get here in our hometown from El Gitano. For breakfast, we took the hotel's recommendation and ate at Mel's Diner in downtown Yakima. The service was excellent and the food was tasty while staying simple. The biscuits and gravy were good, but not the best I've ever had. My wife really liked the eggs Benedict she ordered. Our bottom line is we would gladly come back again.

“Great value!”

Partially refurbished hotel. No issues with internet connection. Basic breakfast. Room is a little on the small side compared to other GuestHouse hotels, however walls are thicker and rooms are quieter. I'll stay here again when I return to Yakima!

“Perfect location”

The hotel is close to the convention center, a shopping mall, and best of all the river trail. The hotel has an outside entrance and CRTelevisions. It has a fridge and micro. The bed was comfortable and check in and out was quick.

Area recommendations
The neighborhood this hotel is located is close to downtown and shopping. Most amenities are within walking distance or the highway via car.
Dining
One of the best places to eat gourmet food and drink micros and wine is the Hunters Pub. It is a few blocks away so you can walk.

“Great hotel!”

I had a 5 day stay at this hotel and was very satisfied. The staff is courteous, the room was cleaned daily and the continental breakfast good. The room wasw a bit small for two beds, but for the satisfactory price, it wasn't an issue. The location is close to downtown and next to the Convention Center. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Good basic economical hotel; good for one night and a good rest.”

I was so exhausted that night and it gave me and my husband the opportunity to get a good night's sleep after a long day of hiking on Mt. Rainier. The breakfast was also good, too. Good variety there. The staff was helpful, too. Wish they had elevators because it was difficult getting bags up the stairs. Can't beat the price though; good economical hotel with basic amenities.

Area recommendations
This was fine as were headed to Lake Chelan from Mt. Rainier National Park. It's also good for cross country travelers being on I-82 which links I-90 and I-84 in Oregon.

“Good qualify for a surprising price”

The room was fine although room door security could be an issue. Only a deadbolt secured the door. The breakfast menu was OK, but be prepared for limited seating and a crowded and competitive limited counter space where the food is. I would use this motel again despite the breakfast issues.

“Older Well Maintained Hotel”

Yes the rooms are small, yes the paint is no longer perfect, the parking lot is tiny (with a dually pick-up we often parked on the street)...but it was quiet, well maintained and clean. Staff was friendly. We checked out the breakfast but didn't eat due to other plans but it looks pretty OK for hotel breakfast. Shower was wonderful (thats always the make or break for me). It was difficult to fin because it's buried between two larger hotels on a back side street. I would stay again for sure.

Area recommendations
I don't understand this question.

“OK for the price.”

For the price, this hotel was OK. They were doing some pretty thorough maintenance/updating like new carpets and paint. One issue was the noise from the air conditioner -- had to keep it on or the room was stuffy, but it was noisy. Also, wireless internet didn't work a lot of the time. Poor connection, very slow to access websites and send email. Had to go to the lobby several times to connect. Breakfast was basic but OK, and the room is small.
