“Great hotel in beautiful location”

We stayed two nights over August Bank Holiday and wished we could have stayed for a week.This is a lovely Edwardian building which is part of the Hand Picked hotel group-suffice it to say we'll certainly look out for others in their portfolio. Service was first class,the staff were extremely caring and helpful despite the pressures of a wedding party in full swing and nothing was too much trouble.The room was extremely comfortable and well maintained,more of a suite really with lots of space. Our only quibble was with the breakfast which promised much on the menu but failed to deliver,the full Yorkshire breakfast being cold on the first day(and sent back)and the Eggs Benedict being a bit of a mess.The restaurant evening menu did look appetising but we had pre-arranged to eat elsewhere. Despite these hiccups this is a great place to stay and unwind and to explore a very special area.Recommended

“Superb hotel”

We just stayed the one night as a stop off point on our way to Whitby and thoroughly enjoyed our brief but pleasant stay. Attentiveness of staff was superb. Excellent service upon arrival. We were given a quick tour of the place by the friendly and chatty hotel porter and were swiftly shown to our room. The room was really nice with all the facilities you'd expect in a four star hotel - plasma TV, tea/coffee, DVD player, bath robes etc. We went into nearby Yarm for the evening and were able to order a taxi from reception very easily. We were even kept company by the porter while waiting. The night's sleep was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was excellent - a continental style buffet followed by a good choice of cooked dishes. Again, the dining room staff were very efficient and attentive. Overall, the building itself is large and traditional and very welcoming. The staff are excellent and make it their business to ensure you have a good stay. Hope to return soon!

“Very Impressed”

Great hotel, very comfortable. Bedroom and bathroom were of a great size and clean. Nice to come back in the evening to find curtains closed, lamps on and radiators on. Some of the many small things that made this a great stay.

“Absolutely Fantastic”

The room, although lovely, was a little on the cramped side and the hot water could have gone up another couple of degrees, but these nitpicking points are being pedantic. The hotel is set in beautiful countryside, the decor and architecture wonderful, the staff must rank amongst the friendliest and helpful anywhere in the UK and the restaurant superb. This is easily one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in anywhere in the world and I have already booked a return visit in the summer.

“Welcoming country house hotel”

I have stayed at the Crathone Hall regularly over the last few months. It is a large country house hotel standing in its own extensive grounds. The rooms can vary a bit in size - nature of the building - but are always welcoming and comfortable. The staff are attentive and friendly. The restaurant serves good food, which is well presented in a grand dining room. Overall, I am always pleased at the prospect of returning.

“White with snow and calm”

We were celebrating Grandma's 70th, so lots of us & plenty of kids making noise. No one seemed at all bothered & all staff friendly & helpful. Our dinner was very good idea- excellent scallops! Breakfast was especially good- top marks for the Full Yorkshire! We had 4 rooms between us which although they varied greatly in size, they were all well kitted out and clean. Rooms all spacious & bathrooms varied in their quirky-ness due to it being a family estate once upon a time.We were lucky enough to have the huge master suite looking out over the lawns & hills. Definitely worth asking for a room looking out the back. A beautiful building itself & on our trip it was all covered in a frosting of snow. I think it's very popular with wedding parties & we were (lucky) to be there on a w/e that there wasn't one, so i imagine we may have not had such attention? I have no idea how the hotel stands on location or surrounds as we didn't leave the place apart from to walk round the grounds. Parts of the communal areas looked a little tired, but all the rooms were absolutely fine.
