There was an odor in the room , opened doors 5 hrs

Posted Aug 13, 2014
Pros: Not much but the laminated floors.
Cons: Everything, including attitude.
Location: Nova Star Ferry to Portland, ME
With the doors opened for 5 plus hours to remove odd odor, we still could not remove smell. Not sure what it was. Maybe a cleaning solution but it was odd. When we arrived due to handicap and inability to do stairs I asked for a lower room. I was told none were available yet all rooms were not taken. Our rooms were on the back side and the truck noise kept me awake all night. Semi tractor trucks on side street. Awful noise, rumble, rumble. And brakes applying at corner entering highway. When I booked the room I asked if all taxes were included ( I did not have a computer available ) but Kevin said no additional charges. Well it was $135.99. Upon check out I was charged $143.00 plus. Told the $11.00 town fee was not added in the quote. $135.99 plus $11.00 is not $143. I can do math. They were not helpful. The food included was also terrible. Sausages cold, bread stale, and my husband who ate it was ill. Would not recommend. I feel cheated and tired.

Extremely convenient to ferry terminal

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: The staff were helpful, charming and professionally friendly.
Cons: Some details have fallen into disrepair and have not yet been fixed, like our broken tub drain.
Location: Perfect place to stay before boarding the ferry.
We stayed here for one night to be near the ferry terminal back to Maine. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly with us and our children. The room was clean and acceptably comfortable. The pool is cool but clean and enjoyable especially in the sunshine. WiFi is available in the rooms, but slows down considerably in the evenings. Breakfast will fill you without surprises. It took us almost a full three minutes to drive to the ferry terminal from the hotel - certainly walkable if you're without a car, or bum a ride to the docks. Overall, an extremely convenient, welcoming place to remember Nova Scotia by.

Summer is short in Nova Scotia!

Posted Jul 6, 2014
Pros: I liked Tracey at the desk best. Breakfast was ok too.
Location: Not a whole lot to do in town in general. They have been hit economically the past 4 years. I expect this to improve with the new ferry service.
Clean and very friendly. The hotel met our expectations. The beds were very comfortable. It was the first of July and the pool wasn't open for the summer yet which was very disappointing.

Oh, the noise!

Posted Apr 14, 2014
Stayed in one of the king rooms, could hear every footstep from the stairs and everything being said in the room below us. This went on all night, and someone was kicking our door at 4 in the morning. Evening desk staff were very rude. The room itself was clean and breakfast was okay, but overall I wouldn't stay here ever again or recommend it to anyone. Too much money for a basic room.

Convenient Location and Helpful Staff

Posted Sep 28, 2012
This hotel is conveniently located downtown. It is walking distance to most amenities and historical downtown. Short driving distance to quaint fishing town and lighthouse. However it is situated on the main road so there is road noise.
