peaceful

Posted Mar 9, 2015
Pros: Everything was just great, we were there with a group of people and we all said how we all enjoyed the Hotel.
Cons: I think every thing was spot on.
Location: we went to a local winery for dinner, the food was superb the Golf course looked great
We had a lovely quiet room with two double beds, we sat outside with friends before our dinner date and it was lovely, secluded and private. The bed was divine to sleep on and no noise what so ever during the night even thou the Hotel was fully booked up for the long week end. The front desk staff were very helpful they were lovely and full of information about the Hotel and the surrounding area. could not fault it in any way will go back again.

Stepford stay

Posted Feb 21, 2015
Pros: Not much stood out.
Cons: See above
This hotel is situated in a bizarre, manicured, gated golfing community. There are more rules than you can poke a stick at, regarding where you can park, where you can sit etc. There seems to be some sort of class divide between 'members' and 'guests', despite the fact that guests are asked to fork out $250+ for the privilege of being treated like second-class citizens. I certainly didn't appreciate being forced to cart my luggage to the outdoor carpark 500 metres from the entrance in the blazing heat, when there was a perfectly good carpark under the hotel with lift access. When I mentioned upon checking out that the chef might be asked to put a vegetarian option on the room service menu, I was made to feel like it was my fault that I hadn't negotiated with staff about this. I know from long experience that, if vegetarians are already an after-thought who will be directed to dishes best described as 'side', this will result in a last-minute pasta dish with no taste that costs the same as the steak. The club across the road charged me the same price for a caesar salad, even though I asked them to omit the bacon and anchovies. There was also nothing else to choose from there either. They might consider that even meat eaters eat vegetarian food occasionally (certainly they scoff all the vego options at conferences I attend) and that their innards might even thank them for the reprieve. The staff in the dining room were lovely.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Yarra Valley Lodge. We are located on the grounds of the Heritage Golf & Country Club, which not only features the hotel but two signature, championship golf courses, a day spa and a myriad of walking tracks. Whilst our guests are able to make use of the facilities throughout the property, there are some areas exclusively reserved for the golf members. I was surprised to read that we were not able to accommodate your dietary needs. We pride ourselves on utilising only the freshest of local, Yarra Valley produce and prepare almost every element of each dish from scratch in our kitchen. We have hosted events exclusively for a vegetarian audience and have received overwhelmingly great feedback. Regards Anthony LoGiusto General Manager

Close to city, clean and serene.

Posted Jan 29, 2015
Pros: Location, Cleanliness, Staff, food
Cons: Comfier chairs for sitting outside - the wooden chairs weren't too comfortable to sit out for too long.
Location: Wineries, Golf.
Decided to go away with the Mrs for the weekend. On arrival staff were very pleasant and friendly, our room had a garden view and we watched the sunset over the golf course. Great thing about Yarra Valley is - you don't have to drive very long from Melbourne to get there (around 40 mins) - yet it is so quiet and relaxing. Definitely going to come back in the future.

Quiet and peaceful

Posted Jan 28, 2015
Pros: Quiet and peaceful, friendly staff, comfy rooms and great breakfast
Cons: Shower was a bit small
Location: Yarra Valley wineries, Dairy, Marysville
Room was spacious, clean and had everything you would expect at this price point. Not much of a view from the room or the restaurant. Shower was a bit small, but the bath was great. Breakfast was wonderful. Staff were friendly and helpful at every interaction. A baby kangaroo hopped past the window whilst we were at breakfast...that was exciting.
