Tokyo, the national capital, is located 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of Yokosuka, while Yokohama is 11 miles (18 kilometers) to the north.

While it can be tempting to simply sit back and relax while visiting Yokosuka, keep in mind that Kanagawa 's many natural sights, cities and towns are never more than a day trip away. If you are looking for more things to see and do, check out the Obi Castle Remains and Nango Roadside Rest Stop in the vicinity of Nango, which you'll find roughly 16 miles (26 kilometers) to the east of Yokosuka.
Kamakura is about 8 miles (13 kilometers) from Yokosuka. This center offers a some great visitor attractions, like Great Buddha, Jochiji and Zeniarai Benten Shrine. If you have enough time, check out An'yoin, Tokeiji and Kenchoji before heading back to Yokosuka.
Visit Kanagawa 's art galleries, theaters and art museums. These are great destinations to hang out, especially on unpleasant days. Experience a little local culture amid the great outdoors at Kanagawa 's fabulous gardens, open-air markets and open-air museums.
Why don't you take the opportunity to relax and enjoy during fun activities such as shore fishing or camping. Both are popular with both visitors and locals alike. Head outdoors and get amongst the adventures in the area around Yokosuka. Try your hand at mountain biking or give hiking a try.
