Overpriced hotel of good standard

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: It is just a regular American hotel. The beds are nice.
Cons: See above.
Location: Utenmyer gardens - great Persian garden. Gianna's Italian restaurant. Old Croton aqueduct trail along Hudson River.
The room was great, but after walking into the room I stepped on something on the floor and it was an unopened sealed insulin needle pack that was laying next to the bed - obviously left by a previous guest and not found by the cleaning staff. Rather strange. The price (over $240 total for 1 night) was outrageous for the location on a hill in not a particularly pleasing section of Yonkers. I do suggest people go and visit the old Persian garden at Untenmyer Park, which is maybe 1-2 miles away. There is no reason this hotel should be able to charge this much. The bar was a disappointment - the beers we wanted were not cold because it has just been restocked at 6 pm (is that when you restock the bar???), and the chips and salsa were also not that great. Salsa out of the jar of the cooked bland kind, with no kick. Served without napkins. But the bartender was friendly even if often absent when you needed to find napkins (we gave up and at the chips without napkins). The breakfast was OK classic hotel fare, but not fantastic, and I expected a lot better for the price. Lame pork sausage patties, dried scrambled eggs, yogurt, white or sweet bread, waffles. I didn't see any whole-wheat bread, but it might have been there. The non-decaf coffee was out. There was no home fries. The cut up fruit looked tired.

Nice hotel facilities

The room was beautiful and clean. It was a lot bigger than what I was expecting for such a great and low price. It was also close to where I was wanting to go.

Pleasant stay!

Location: You have access to restaurants and stores in a one mile radius. You have a hospital close by and also a museum.
Room was ready and clean. Had to call for towels. It took housekeeping less than 5 minutes to bring additional towels. We have stayed at this hotel a few times. This was by far one of the better stays.

Hotel with GREAT WORKERS!

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Workers ,breakfast and bar area were great.
Cons: Room shower pressure.
Location: Easy to get to hotel. Went to Yonkers Raceway Casino. Used metro-north train. Went to Applebee's.
First timer at this hotel! Went to Yankee game Friday night and stayed until Sunday. Arrived early on Friday afternoon and was treated great. We were able to get our room within a few minutes. Front desk personal were friendly & helpful. We used hotel shuttle to train station. After game we were able to call back to hotel and get return shuttle. Shuttle driver was very pleasant. Breakfast both mornings was AWESOME! Enjoyed the bar area as well. Overall our experience was very good. If there was one issue I would recommend to the hotel to work on changing would be the water pressure in the rooms shower. In all my years of traveling, it was the worst> Please don't let that one issue have any bearing on staying at this great hotel.

Close to perfect.

I loved the hotel and the room was great. I even like the fact that they had a shuttle. It can drive you anywhere within a 5 mile radius. My only problem with it was, when we called to schedule a pick up and we arrived at our stop. The shuttle was not there. Luckily a driver from a near by hotel took pitty on us and drove us back to the hotel. When we arrived I told the girl no one had been waiting there. She had no idea what I was talking about. Yet we recived a call to our room 2 hours later telling us our pick up was ready to drive us to the station.,, Then the next day we came down a little after 1 looking to go to the train station. The person behind the desk was rude and then there wasn't a shuttle available until after 6pm.. Our day was shot.... You would be a perfect hotel, all you need to do is teach your receptionist some manners and tell them not to give people attitude. Although I will say everyone else that worked there were friendly and helpfull. I went on business and have to travel to New York 4 times a year. Will I stay there again??? I may give it a second shot..

Great place to stay for business

People are welcoming. Check in was easy. Everything was ready when I arrived. The room was functional and clean. Maid service was diligent and effective. I also found the fitness area clean and adequate. And the daily breakfast was quite efficient, with ample facilities and service. The bar could stock a couple of better single malt scotches but the bar tender was very personable. On the downside, restaurant options outside the hotel for dinner are limited. Applebee's is a moderate walk and Gianna's delivers so it's not hopeless. I've stayed here several times now and intend to continue coming back.
