Good and BadPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: see above
Cons: stop renting out the smallest rooms, especially ones with sloping ceilings. I felt like I was sleeping in a cave.
Location: see above
Good: beautiful historic hotel with lush grounds, nice pool, free shuttles to see huge trees, comfy front porch in the evenings with drinks and live piano music. Bad: teeny tiny cramped room. I have a tent which is larger than the room that we got. Advice: call ahead and ask for decent room, don't wait until last minute (although this room was reserved and paid for 8 months in advance), if you wait until you check in, you will get whatever last minute microscopic room that they have available. Also, if I ever go back, I will probably spend the extra money for a room with a bath, because these rooms seem to be slightly larger. (The shared bath that went with the tiny room was actually very nice). In summary: buyer beware!!

Great character.Posted Jul 24, 2014
So much character it's untrue. Look beyond the lack of air com (fans suffice) and shared bathroom (actually very clean) and it has more character than any hotel I've ever stayed in. Stayed as part of my honeymoon and although my wife was sceptical at first by the end she agreed it was the best place we stayed.

Old charm = few ammenitiesPosted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: location, nothing else
Location: in yosemite, so that is a convenience
Old charm and historic character not enough to overcome lack of modern facilities...ie, in Europe, shared baths are more common, although this is changing rapidly...never had them in the US before...I overlooked this fact when i booked, so my bad...but I wish I had noticed...I would NOT have booked it. For medical reasons...I NEED a bathroom in MY room. furnishings look dingy...not just old.

Like a step back in time!Posted Jun 26, 2014
Beautiful hotel with an old-fashioned feel-no TVs or modern-day amenities... shared bathrooms but the area and the beautiful surroundings were amazing and I would come back again in a minute.

Lovely hotel with beautiful surroundingsPosted Jun 21, 2014
we spent a night in the Wawona hotel. The staff were friendly. The room was quaint and old fashioned but this was in keeping with the feel of the hotel. The bed was comfortable and room was clean. Meals were good but I did feel the food could have been a bit hotter. There is lovely decking that you can sit out on after your meal and have a drink and soak up the last of the evening sun and atmosphere. Very peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Situated within easy reach of all the major attractions within the park.

Wawona HotelPosted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: The historical "resort" type feel.
Cons: Queen or king size beds.
Location: We toured Mariposa Grove.
We loved this place. The historic hotel and grounds were very pleasant and made for a great overall experience. The rooms were clean. We shared a bathroom with other guests and had no wait time. The bathrooms were very clean and everyone kept them that way.

hotel in YosemitePosted Jun 2, 2014
we were expecting to share a bathroom but it didn't say between how many rooms. we ended up sharing one shower (which also had a toilet in it) and one toilet between approx. 8 rooms (so probably 16 people). If we had known this at booking we would not have chosen it. saying that, the hotel was in a beautiful setting, the staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was excellent!
