"Loved every minute!"
This was such a great place to stay. Dora and her family were so amazing and so hospitable! It was a little hard to find at night but they were so helpful and came to find us when we were lost! The internet was a little but slow but that is understandable for being in a slightly remote area by the sea. We loved it and would definitely stay here again!

"Really nice hotel near the sea and evening bar"
Our stay was unfortunately short, but agreable anyway. We were in suit, which was aple, also for our small puppy. I should mention very nice staffs too. Climate was perfectly functional, bathroom greatly looking. We were very pleased and next time we'll go to Zadar, we'll absolutely choose your hotel :)

"Amazing views and great service"
We had a room with a sea view and the outlook was incredible - like a postcard - especially at sunset. It's about a 20 min drive to Zadar which was fine during the day, although quite expensive in a taxi. Service was very efficient and friendly. Meals were good but basic and did seem a little over-priced compared with what we were paying in Zadar, but it's convenient to eat at the hotel. Ask for a room with a sea view!

"Excellent spot in old town of zadar"
Hotel/hostel right in the centre of old town of zadar but very close to sea front.rooms excellent.we stayed in room 3 V11 which was all black shiny cupboards etc.power shower etc.breakfast was simple but plentiful.the only disadvantage of the hotel is its next to the church which rang its bells all the time, plus could be noisy with late night revellers.but would definitely return here.

"Lovely hotel, great location, excellent staff"
We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. Our apartment had comfy beds, a kitchen area, balcony with table and chairs, tv and a kitchen table and chairs. Aircon was brilliant as it was pretty hot when we were there. Apartment was cleaned each day and the bathroom was fresh and plenty hot water. The owner is really lovely, very helpful and friendly (he even gave us a lift to Nin one day) and his English is good. There is a nice little bar in the hotel and the wine they serve was really nice. The pool is great, reasonable size and gets a lot of sun. It is quiet by about 6pm and there are sunloungers. The staff at the hotel are really helpful and friendly so it really makes you feel welcome there. We found the location great without a car for the 4 days we were there but we like walking and don't mind taking buses.

"Great inexpensive stay"
We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Sonja. It was very reasonably priced for a clean room that had everything we needed. We especially appreciated the free airport transportation. We also appreciated that when we checked-in we were given a map of the area and told about things in the local area and how to get around. We stayed in the studio for 2 people. We had a kitchenette (fridge, 2 hobs, microwave, sink, coffee machine), table and chairs, TV, wardrobe, bedside cabinets, bed and bathroom. We found the bed a little uncomfortable, but this was not a major problem. We were surprised there was no blanket on the bed (just sheets and a slightly padded cover), however we didn't need one, although one night we were slightly chilly. Had we really needed it, I am confident that we could have asked the management, who seemed friendly and helpful. Villa Sonja may not be in the centre of Zadar, but you can get there either by bus or by a 35 to 40 minute walk, or 50 minutes if you take the route along the coast (walking about 3mph). With the coast and beach nearby, we found it well placed to investigate the area. There was a nearby supermarket and bank. Our stay was very positive, and the negative things I've mentioned were only minor, especially given price. The only other thing was that we could only pay by cash (which retrospectively isn't surprising considered it is a small place), but having booked through Expedia with a credit card, it took us by surprise on the last day.

Pocket Guide: Zadar-Northern Dalmatia Zadar Independent Hotels

Sitting on a small fortified peninsular, Zadar’s traffic-free old town dates back to Roman times. Top sights include several 12th-century Romanesque churches and a treasury displaying gold and silver Byzantine reliquaries. Activities include one-day boat trips to the scattered islands of Kornati National Park, and hiking the mountains and gorges of Paklenica National Park on the mainland. The local tipple is Maraschino (cherry brandy).
