Lovely views, good surroundings, ok facilitiesPosted Sep 23, 2013
Pros: The stunning view, quiet location, overall look of hotel.
Cons: TV - satellite channels Wifi - should work everywhere on grounds Gym - all equipment should work Pool - heated
Location: Cross taverna - best place to eat on island, and amazing view of sunset/sea That's it
If you want a quality hotel in Zakyntos, this is the only choice. It's up to par with good quality 4 star hotels in terms of looks. However I'd say the facilities are still lacking compared to most hotels I've stayed at in terms of TV(only local UHF channels, no satellite/digital), the Wifi is only available in the main lobby, costs extra and has a very weak signal(2-3 bars on iphone); the pools are unheated; and oddly you can't (really!) have an iron to iron your shirts - it costs 2EUROs each to get them ironed. Also the gym equipment wasn't working, like the cycle, rowing machine, and sauna. The said that the sauna was "being fixed" but they never got back to us. It feels like they spent money on the looks, but they skimped on the details; and it's the details that make the experience. What's nice though is the location, it's probably the best place to view the sunset, though the "Cross Taverna" 10 minutes walk away has some of the best food on the island. The dinner food was a bit bland but everyone really dressed up! It's away from the tourist crowd in Laganos so you won't have drunk teenagers all night. It's really a business hotel and very nice place to stay but for a business hotel I expect everything to work. Final thing, and this is my fault. I lost the key, and they charged 50Euro for a replacement which I thought was ridiculous - 5-10 would have been more reasonable, but they had hand made key fobs, nice but not practical for a business hotel

Great hotelPosted Aug 8, 2013
Pros: Views of sunset
Location: Ideal for touring the island, must have a car though to get about.
Great hotel, superb views, 2 good sized pools etc, but overall let down by the quality of the food. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

The best kept secret for a relaxing escapePosted May 12, 2013
Pros: The classy style of the establishment, but with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
Cons: Free WiFi was only available in the lobby - but it was good to limit our access to the outside world.
Location: Quiet coastal cliff farming area. Nice rocky bays a short drive by for sea swim (beaches 30mins drive opp. side of island). Local tavernas aplenty.
The Mabely Grand Hotel seems to be a secret jewel as a place to get away from it all. As the name suggests, it is a grand hotel, opulent, but not over the top. Located on the Greek island of Zakynthos, it is nestled in Kampi, in the quieter end of the island, about a 45 minute drive from the airport. This region is charming to say the least, with small villages amongst the olive groves, and shepheards tending to their flocks of goats and sheep. The hotel staff at the Mabely Grand Hotel were wonderful. They were very helpful, and gave good advice on places to visit in the region (I recommend a hire car to get to the hotel, and to explore the area & other parts of the island). Sitting on the hotel terrace enjoying a scrumptious breakfast buffet whilst gazing over the Ionian Sea, was a highlight. However, this pales in comaprison to watching the beautiful sunsets from the same terrace, or one of the two resort style pool areas. We were lucky enough to have a suite with a balcony, which was wonderful to relax on with a drink. The hotel is situated very close to the coastal cliffs, and just a stones throw from the hotel is a gorgeous taverna, that serves up traditional Greek fare, under the shade of the pine trees - another ideal location to enjoy the Ionian sunset. A big thank you to the team at the Mabely Grand Hotel for a wonderful, and relaxing stay in Zakynthos. We plan to make an annual visit to this hotel & holiday spot, so as to get away, & forget all our cares.
