Beautiful hotel, great location.Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The staff and beauty of the whole place.
Cons: The scrambled eggs weren't the best. But the coffee and buffet breakfast was very nice.
Location: Location is right by the old fort. It's close to everything (ferry, stone town) and has a great views of the ocean.
Staff was friendly, awesome and informative. Room was clean and beautiful. The courtyard and palace are beautifully restored and extremely magical. I would stay there again in a second. It was a bit of a splurge, but well worth it. The roof top patio was lovely too with a buffet breakfast.

Very well positioned, staff attentive.Posted Sep 20, 2013
Cons: Less stairs.
Location: The seafront with all it's activities are very close.
Found the area of the hotel great, being slightly away from the stone town, gives you a feeling of being more in Zanzibar.

Unbeatable servicePosted Aug 26, 2013 on Hotels.com
Wonderfully rebuilt hotel - full of character. Service and attention to detail by all staff fantastic. Very comfortable air conditioned bedroom. Restaurant food superbly cooked and very well presented. Only drawback is hotel location and surrounding properties but the hotel stood like a jewel.

An unexpected treasure and jewlPosted Jul 12, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Mashariki Palace is a true jewel in the heart of Zanzibar. A new hotel, rooms were clean, fresh, fashionable and thoughtfully designed. A lot of attention went into every detail, and the owners have excellent taste. The rooftop restaurant has delicious food and an amazing view. The owners could not have been more lovely and helpful. We looked at a visited a few other hotels for lunch and dinner during our stay in Zanzibar and even the best rated "luxury" hotels (Serena, Tembo) were rough around the edges. This is most definitely the place to stay if you are looking for a luxury hotel.
