A good stayPosted Sep 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel and staff were just what we were looking for. We were on a tight budget and didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars a night, so Mauwani Inn was perfect. The hotel was exactly how it looked in the photo, including a great breakfast and super-cold air conditioning, and so no surprises there. There were two small things that stopped this from being a perfect stay. There was no hot water in the room that we booked. Once I informed the staff about the problem, they called in two separate repairmen to fix the issue. They were unable to resolve the problem because they were unable to locate the faulty wiring. That wasn't such a big deal since the water was luke warm and there were other showers we were able to use anyway. The second issue was the lack of airport transport. It says in the add that they will pick you up for free at the airport, but that is no longer the case because ownership of the hotel had changed. We told them that this was advertised on their website and said that this is something that they should honour and they did. Because they were able to take care of these issues, I would highly recommend the hotel. You would get more from a more expensive hotel, but for the budget-conscious, this was everything we needed.

CONVENIENT HOTEL - EASY WALKPosted Nov 5, 2012 on Hotels.com
Pleasant, helpful staff, safe area and safe hotel. Easy walk to main town area, close to restaurants. Water is very hard. Basic amenities, TV but no channels.
CONVENIENT LOCATIONPosted Sep 3, 2012 on Hotels.com
PROS: Short walk to center and main park. Nearby hotels, nice restaurants & shops. Friendly helpful staff with good English. Set breakfast okay/ample, but no variety. Clean, nice room, received private bathroom. Laundry service very good. Safe. CONS: bathroom needs renovation; no shampoo, water salty, no pressure in shower, shower water too hot. A/C turned off when out of room. Needs desk in room. No late checkout - 10am! However would definitely stay again - good value for money!

Great for the Budget TravelerPosted Aug 16, 2012 on Hotels.com
We were expecting a budget hotel and that's what we found. Our room was spacious with a small balcony overlooking the front courtyard. We had a ceiling fan and air conditioner which we used in the evenings. The hotel has seven rooms so you get to know the staff quickly. The hotel is located down an alley and surrounded by homes. It's a great location for walking around Stone Town and as females we felt very safe. We enjoyed a breakfast of fruit, eggs and toast every morning.
