"Basic hotel with very helpful staff"
This hotel is located about 10-15 minute walk to the beach, restaurant area and downtown. It is in a neighborhood that is quiet and safe for walking to the touristy area or beach. My room was in the back of the hotel, very quiet and quite spacious. While basic it was comfortable and well worth the price point. There was a nearby Oxxo and other small neighborhood stores for buying drinks and snacks. The owner Christian could not be more helpful with advice and directions and will address any concerns you might have about your stay. A comfortable basic hotel at a good price.

If you like to travel with Culture in mind this is your kind of place. The room was comfortable, clean and the staff, although did not speak any English was very kind, warm hearted and genuine. The location was easy to get to town, close to La Madera Beach and (to me) a Central location. I enjoyed my stay and would say, you would too. If your not a 4* traveler.

"Best place for us; you? ...Maybe."
We had the best room for us: top floor on a high cliff. With two balconies, one always shaded; nice breezes morning and late evening, and we saw no flying insects. We turned the AC of at night and just opened the windows (early March, might not work in peak summer). It was a sort of honeymoon trip, and one day we found our bed not only made up but sprinkled with little flower petals. Ro-----mantic! We were active and independent, so we did not see the staff that much, but place was always well kept. Yes, the STEPS: we counted, 175 stone steps down to the road, then a 1/4 mile walk to the village, but fun if you're in shape. The pool was shaded in the afternoon, cool ! Zihua as friendly, enough English here and there if you no hablas espanol. Fell in love! We'll go back when we can.

"Home away from home!!!!"
Great place to stay, close to the beach excellent view from the terrrace restaurant. If you want an all inclusive then this is not your place. If you want to be welcomed and received like you deserve then stay here or the sister hotel across the street. We have stayed in both and we feel that as you have access to both hotels and pools then you cannot lose. The checkin staff of Carlos and Elizabeth are just the start of a great vacation. You can eat on the terrace or you are a a short walk front many other places. I would advise to pay a bit more and take the inclusive breakfast and there is little need for lunch after it. There are 4 beachs within 4-15 minutes walking with one requiring a short boat ride across the habour if you wish. There are many things to do and downtown is only a 12 minute walk away. It is a safe road to walk at night and the sunsets are incredible. We lacked for nothing!!!!

"Boutique Style Hotel"
The Hotel is rather old, but has a comfortable feel to it. It has a great view of the Zihuatenjo bay and a good location for other resturants and not far from the market place. No phones, but then why would you want one. Each floor has WFI, so you can hook up your I-pad and send pictures for the views. I would say the rooms at the end of the floors are the best for 30 dollars more a night it would be worth it, since you get your on little hot tub or pool. The furniture is not great but the standard beds are very comfortable. Showers and bathroom need work but they work and kept very clean. Our room had 2 twin beds, a refrigerator, table and mirror and cloths rack. No chairs, you can use the chairs out side and large tables for working or cooking or having diner. Each floor has a small area for cooking your own stuff. We only ate breakfast across the street, which I believe is a sister hotel, good breakfast. The restaurant next doors serves a great Mahi Mahi. Remember your are there for the Ambience. Have a good time, we did and met some great people.

Pocket Guide: Ixtapa Zihuatanejo Independent Hotels

On the Pacific Coast of Guerrero, Mexico, the city of Zihuatanejo has worked hard to retain its “village” look and feel. Many downtown streets are still paved with cobblestones, and zoning laws prohibit buildings over 4 stories. A brick-paved beachfront promenade runs along Playa La Madera and Playa Principal to the pier, and all beaches along the bay are safe for swimming.
