liked it so much, I'd want to get married there

Everything about this hotel is class, but not in a pretentious way, just a nice, welcoming, friendly way. The rooms are in small lodges a short distance - or complimentary golf-cart shuttle journey away - low-numbered being closer. Wonderful rooms, terrific views, calming serenity and peaceful quiet, nice restaurants, terrific food, exceptional service, and all (generally) at a lower rate than you'd usually pay for Fairmont. The rooms are large, with so many facilities, including private balconies, multi-room bathroom, and so many in-room 'add ons' that show you're in a classy establishment. You will probably get one of the best nights sleep here, with wonderful comfy beds, fluffy pillows, peaceful surroundings, and exceptional, friendly service. I liked the place so much, I'd want to get married there - and I'm not even engaged :-)

We have stayed a number of times at the Zimbali Lodge and absolutely love it! The lodge has beautiful surroundings with lots of wildlife including five monkeys on our balcony when we awoke one morning! The buffet breakfast is delicious with great variety! Our only disappointment was that in our building (#8), we were unable to get wi fi. We were told they are working on the problem! Our beautiful view of the Indian Ocean more than made up for it!

Wonderful hotel in a picturesque setting.

Pros: The setting was terrific, the views were great and the food and service was excellent.
Due to our travel plans we could only stay one night - our brief stay was wonderful.

Amazing setting and d├ęcor!

Cons: Variety of cuisine.
We travelled in August 2013 The hotel has a unique colonial style which makes you feel very welcome. The rooms and service are impeccable and so was Breakfast. We tried a restaurant on the other Fairmont property and that was not at the same standard level of the Zimbali Lodge. .

Probably needed longer

Zimbali came recommended from a number of friends, so we were intrigued to stay here. Didn't realise quite how big it was with the lodge, hotel and resort. Lovely decor throughout the reception and lodges. Made for an interesting stay to have to get a golf cart to the room from reception. We ate at the buffet in the Thandi restaurant, and for the price we paid we were a bit disappointed with the quality, however a la carte looked a lot nicer. Main comment is that it is probably too big to appreciate in a 1 night stay. There is plenty to see and do (though it could get quite expensive) if you have more than one night to stay.

Best stay I've had in years!

Posted Oct 24, 2012
Pros: The location
Cons: steep sidewalks and rough stairways
Location: Incredible forest with ocean views!!!!!
The entire location was spectacular! The only small drawback was the bits of wear and tear within the room itself. Given that the room had colonial style African furniture the wear was far less notable as compared to major chain hotels and did little to distract from the over all. The views were incredible and the staff was simply perfect!!!!
