Good location. 15 min walk from station.m

Posted Jul 12, 2014
Pros: Good location and good ambience. Breakfast was plentiful and nice.
Cons: Better ventilation.
We chose to take tram 4 outside the station as the ticket from the airport was valid for up to 1 hour. Just a few stops. Enjoyed wandering round the area - up and down narrow streets. Followed the river to the lake and watched the many boats coming and going. Light supper at the famous Conditorei, which we came upon more by chance than anything else. Hotel Alstadt has a pleasant bar. Good ambience. The room was compact but very nice. Modern, tasteful shower-room. The room was quite warm in spite of chilly evening. Opened window. Could hear the chattering of the people in the street, but not too intrusive. Would gladly stay there again next time we have an overnight stop in Zurich. Not to be missed - music at the Ladies Swimming Pool the other side of the river every Wednesday evening or just for a drink any other evening.

Disappointing

Posted May 19, 2014
Pros: Clean and good location.
Cons: Rooms are too small. Expensive parking fee and hard to offload luggages from cars. Breakfast buffets are too simple.
Location: The hotel is conveniently located right at the edge of old town.
I am kind of disappointed after the stay. The only thing good about this hotel is the location. The rooms are extremely small. Breakfast buffets are ok without a lot of selections and all cold dishes. A small egg cooker for all guests and you have to wait in the line if you want a hot boiled egg. Overall experience was not good for us so we won't go back next time in Zurich.

Really great location and 5 min walk to the city

Posted Apr 5, 2014
Pros: Location and there is a bit of a theme in the design
Cons: can't think of any
Location: in the middle of old city, you've got everything
the staff are very helpful and since it is a small hotel, there is not much of other things you can expect but that's the beauty of small hotel. I like the design and leave your key and lock your key when you leave.

Alstadt is a nice hotel in the old part of Zurich- Very expensive city, but hotel price was okay and hotel is perfect as a home base. No frills, but who cares? I would certainly stay there agian.

Nice location, not great experience

Small room for four people, could barely move around. Great location, but that's about it.

Tidy and modern

Posted Dec 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel room is neat and tidy. The decor looks modern and beds are comfy. The location is great and within walking distance to the tourist areas. The only down side is the size of the room being rather small for a family of 4 (with 2 tweens). There are not muh space to move around.

Helpful staff and a great location

Close to everything business and tourist related. Clean, comfortable and quaint rooms. Ask for the 5th floor with high sloped ceilings and exposed beams. Coffee shop in lobby. Front desk help speak English and manned from 7am to midnight. Tram stop 2 minutes walk direct to main train station.
