“Off the beaten path, but worth the hunt.”

Our stay at Krone got off to a bad start through no fault of the hotel: the cabbie at the Zurich train station had great difficulty finding the Krone in Winterthur. After that, things got better rapidly. The location is ideal, close to transportation, nice shops and a wonderful "locals" German restaurant. Very nice Continental breakfast and decent meals at noon. Some of the desk clerks could use better training in local attractions. A good 3-star choice.

Could have used a clock and fan in the room. Staff was great. Breakfast was very good. Great location.

The hotel was situated in the "Market" area of Winterthur, which made for a noisy environment. The pluses include: 1. It's situated within walking distance to the train station, which was very convenient. 2. Located in the "Market Area" made it convenient for shopping and access to restruarants. 3. The Hotel staff was very friendly, helpful and spoke a variety of languages including German, French and English. 4. The breakfast buffett was excellent. 5. In general the hotel was clean and well maintained. The minuses included: 1. The room was extremely small without air conditioning. 2. Lots of noise from the market area at "all hours of the night."
