“Bad Experiance”

If you want to party with the kids, this is the place. Otherwise was an old run down dirty hotel with no service to speak of. Has 4 stars over the door from when I am sure was a nice place.

“If going back to Zurich I would stay here again”

Excellent location, very modern and cozy rooms at the same time. The girls in the front desk multi-lingual, very nice and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. The location was just perfect, in the old area of the town, several sturbucks around the corner, wonderful restaurants all around and nice shopping.

“Great location”

European style hotel with a killer locatiion for shopping and restaurants. Check in and check out process is a bit slow, but the facility itself is fantastic.

“decent hotel in heart of historic old zurich downtown”

hotel is in downtown zurich, lots of shops and restaurants to walk to, rail station is right nearby. hotel is clean and comfortable, fairly modern. not a big hotel by any means. i enjoyed my stay and got a pretty good rate. wifi is available but not included in the price, which was disappointing, why do hotels do that? the marginal cost to a hotel to let someone use wifi is pennies. the included breakfast was superb, great fruits, breads, cheeses, juices, coffee are all high quality. i was please with the location and the comfort of the stay, i do recommend.

“Pleasant stay in the middle of Zurich's historic centre”

The "Wellenberg " tries to be a "Design Hotel". That is perhaps why the wall in our room was pictureless. But the rest was near perfect. Centrally situated in the pedestrian precinct, friendly and helpful staff with only little shortcomings which are easily forgiven because of their charming manner, a small but friendly reception area with water, apples and little sweets free of charge. We got an upgrade and therefore our rooms were quite large, with extra seating (sofa and armchairs respectively), one room even with parquet floor). Mineral water was provided free of charge, and there were normal coathangers in the wardrobe (a rarity nowadays even in good hotels). Berakfast buffet was without fish, but the rest was good quality food. typical Swiss fare, e.g. wonderful croissants (or "Gipfeli" as they are called in Switzerland), Bündnerfleisch (air-dried ham of beef), Bircher (and other) muesli, of course cheese; eggs, fresh fruit. Scrambled eggs were made freshly to order. Only on saturday food was calculated a bit tightly, and the Bircher muesli was quickly finished. If weather allows you can breakfast on the terrace under a pergola of beautiful wisteria. The Tina bar belonging to the hotel is - in spite of the somewhat dubious name - nicely furnished and worth a visit. The printer in the Business Centere however did not work. All in all a clear recommendation.

Area recommendations

On saturdays there is a beautiful flea market at Bürkliplatz. The Sprüngli Café and shop on Bahnhofsstrasse/Paradeplatz is a must and famous for it's macarons called "Luxemburgerli".

“FAB HOTEL IN ZURICH”

A spacious hotel in Zurich though internet is not free. The breakfast was excellent and the breakfast crew were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is included in the hotel price which is great considering that prices in Zurich are not "wallet friendly". The location of the hotel to the train station, bus terminal, restaurants and some attractions is unbeatable. The hotel was close to River Limmat which is great for a picturesque walk. We had a room which was quiet though I noticed that some evenings got rowdy with so many bars nearby. Keeping the window shut diminished the noise significantly. This in turn became a problem on some nights because there was no air conditioner in our room and the room got quite hot and stuffy. The table fan helped somewhat. Don't rely upon the staff to wake you when you request a wake up call. The staff forgot to call three of the eight nights we were there which was not a big deal since we used that method as a second means to wake us up but it could be a real problem for someone who wants to catch a flight and leaves the alarm to a sleepy or inattentive receptionist. My only real criticism was that I had requested an early check in and called and confirmed it with a hotel staff before arriving at the hotel. When we got there at 8:00 a.m., we found that the room could not be ready until 2:00 and the receptionist was extremely rude about it. Other than this one rude individual and the check in issue, our stay was simply fabulous.

“Good hotel in the old city”

Please note that there is no air-conditioning in the hotel. If you have to open the windows you hear the busy night life activities of the area.
