TRACKING, PAYMENT, AND REPORTING

How much do you pay by type of travel?
We will pay you a commission or referral fee based on the following schedule. Please see our Operating Agreement for complete details.
  • Airline transactions: $4 per transaction
  • Expedia Special Rate hotel transactions: 5.5% to 6% per transaction based on monthly Merchant hotel sales
  • Agency hotel transactions: 3% per transaction
  • Rental car transactions: 2% per transaction
  • Cruise transactions: $20 to $30 per transaction based on monthly Cruise sales
  • Vacation package transactions: 2.5% of vacation package
  • Destination Services/Activities transactions: 5% per transaction

How much can I earn?
We cannot predict how much you will earn from our Associates Program because we don't know anything about your Web site or its visitors.

How do I know how much commission I've earned?
Through the Commission Junction reporting Web site, www.cj.com, you can access reports that provide information on impressions, orders, transactions, and commissions earned. Reports are updated daily.

How often do I get paid?
We will send you a check for the commissions earned by you on a monthly basis. Please see our Operating Agreement for complete details.

Do I earn commissions on my own purchases?
Yes. When you complete a transaction with us through your Web site, you earn the same commission on your purchase that you would from a visitor's purchase.

Do I still earn commissions on cancellations?
No. If a user cancels a transaction, or if credit card charges are reversed due to a dispute or credit card fraud, your account will be debited for any commission earned on that transaction.

How can I monitor my sales?
You can monitor your sales by accessing reports as often as you like through the Commission Junction reporting Web site, www.cj.com.

Who processes transactions and handles customer service?
We process transactions and handle customer service for all customers that you refer to our site. All you have to do is place our links on your site. We do the rest!

How will you know when customers come from my site?
All links from your site to our site contain a unique identifier so that every time a user comes to us via your site, we know to credit you when a purchase is made. This is only possible, though, when you create all of your links with the tag generator found in our "Get Links" section at Commission Junction (www.cj.com).

How often can I run reports?
You can run reports as often as you like. Expedia.com affiliate program sales information is updated daily at Commission Junction (www.cj.com) with the latest information about your site.

I operate more than one Web site. Can you track them separately but pay me with one commission check?
Yes. You can have multiple sites under one Associate account. You can create links and generate reports specifically for each site, but you will receive one commission check for all of your sites. To set up an account with multiple sites, please contact us with the names and URLs of the additional sites.

BECOMING AN ASSOCIATE

How do I get started?
Getting started is easy. First, we recommend that you read the Expedia.com Associates Operating Agreement. Then click the I agree link to enroll directly online. You'll be asked to provide some information about your Web site and will be required to complete the online enrollment form.

How will I know if I'm accepted into the program?
You'll receive confirmation of your acceptance into the Expedia.com Associates Program immediately following the submission of your request for enrollment.

Does it cost anything to become an Expedia.com Associate?
No. Enrollment is free. There are no initiation or membership fees to become an Expedia.com Associate Partner.

How do I earn money when users of my Web site are referred to Expedia.com?
Each time a visitor of your Web site is referred directly to Expedia.com and books a qualifying transaction of a flight, hotel room, vacation rental property, rental car, vacation package, or cruise, you earn money.

How do you track when a user is sent to Expedia.com from my Web site?
At the time of enrollment, you will be issued a unique Source ID that will allow us to keep track of all qualifying transactions which users from your Web site generate on Expedia.com. Your source ID must be used each time your users link to Expedia.com.

Once my program is up and running, how can I view reports on sales activity from my Web site?
Once you sign up with the Expedia.com Associates Program, you will be given a password to access reports showing the quantity and types of transactions being made by users of your Web site on Expedia.com.

Can a Web site outside the United States be an Associate?
Yes. We welcome Associates from anywhere in the world. However, customers that buy from our site must pay in U.S. dollars. In addition, airline tickets and vacation packages containing flights can only be purchased by customers using U.S. based credit cards, and all commission payment checks to Associates are in U.S. dollars.

I operate more than one Web site. Can I still be an Associate?
Yes. You can have multiple sites under one Associate account. You can track each of your sites separately, but you will receive one commission check for all sites.

What are my responsibilities as an Associate?
You are responsible for using the tag generator found in our "Get Links" section at Commission Junction (www.cj.com) to create and place links on your site and maintain branded links to Expedia.com. We handle everything else.

What are Expedia.com's responsibilities?
We will provide you with the tools and support you need to maximize sales through your site. We also handle processing transactions and billing for all customers you refer to us.

I don't currently have a Web site. Can I still apply?
Unfortunately, no. In order for us to accept you as an Associate, we must be able to view your Web site.

Can I participate in other Web sites' affiliate programs?
Yes. Participation in the Expedia.com Associates Program does not limit you from participating in other Web sites' affiliate programs.

How do I change my account information?
Once you have been accepted as an Associate, you can modify your account information at www.cj.com.

Will becoming an Associate increase traffic to my site?
Our Associates Program is a revenue-sharing program. It is not designed to help you increase traffic to your site. However, it enhances your site with content, so your user return rate may be higher.

SETTING UP LINKS

How do I create links?
We have an automatic tag generator in our "Get Links" section at Commission Junction (www.cj.com), which should be used to create HTML that you cut and paste into your Web site. It is so easy to use that even beginners can create links in seconds. The tag generator allows you to create mulitple types of links to our services.

Where should I place the links on my site?
You should place links where they are easy for your site visitors to find, such as your home page, your navigation bar, and any other traffic areas. If you place the links in an easily accessible location on your site, your visitors will be more likely to make a purchase.

How often should I update my links?
You should update links to our site frequently. We are constantly adding new services, so you should create new links that fit the interests of your visitors.

Can I use your content on my site?
You may use any of the links, ad banners, graphics, and icons provided to you in our "Get Links" section at Commission Junction (www.cj.com). Use of any other content from our Web site without prior written approval is prohibited.
