About Regent Seven Seas Cruises |

Regent Seven Seas Cruises, previously Radisson Seven Seas Cruises, was formed in 1992 as the result between two one-ship lines, Radisson Cruises and Seven Seas Cruises. Its parent company is the Minneapolis-based Carlson Hospitality Worldwide, one of the travel industry’s largest hospitality companies. In March 2006, Carlson announced that Radisson would become Regent; the crux for the company has long been that Radisson Seven Seas, which pioneered many of today's most significant luxury accouterments—from all-outside cabins to all-balcony suites to butler and concierge services—is upscale, but Carlson's Radisson Hotels, which share the name, are resolutely mass-market. The small-but-growing Regent chain of hotels, acquired by Carlson five years after it had launched its cruise line, seemed a better fit.
The name change itself won't mean much to passengers, once they get used to it. But more significant changes were announced in March as well. For one, the fleet of four ships will, throughout the next 18 months, receive significant upgrades, including wireless capabilities (and improved computer connections); new bedding featuring down comforters; Egyptian cotton linens; and Regent-branded bathroom amenities. Cabins will all get flat-screen televisions, DVD players, and new clocks, while higher-end suites will receive iPod music systems with Bose speakers. And cell phone access will be available even at sea.
What's intriguing (since the upgrades are standard for any luxury line wanting to stay competitive) is that the company hopes to wrap a new onboard philosophy around the new name. Among the anchors of this new approach is a new level of excellence in service, described as "the Tao of Regent": "to hear without being told, to see without being shown, and to know without being asked." Regent already has put in place cruising's first dedicated travel concierges onboard each ship; the line also has committed to Circles of Interest enrichment programs and customized sightseeing while in port, regardless of group size.
RSSC offers globe-spanning routes, touching some 300 ports on every continent, including Antarctica, French Polynesia, and the Panama Canal, as well as the more familiar Mediterranean, Alaska, Caribbean, and more.

Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ (RSSC) ships are known for spacious, elegantly appointed cabins and outstanding service and dining. The company's space-per-guest and staff-per-guest ratios are among the highest among the lines, while its standard cabins (referred to as suites) are among the most spacious in the industry. Also popular is RSSC’s “gratuity included in the fare” policy.
Ships have the usual main restaurant (although names and themes vary) and offer individual interpretations of alternative restaurants; examples include a casual Italian trattoria with singing waiters and an intimate Le Cordon Bleu-run establishment. Adding a more relaxed tone to the luxury atmosphere and cuisine is RSSC’s open-seating dining policy for all onboard restaurants. House wines and other liquor-based drinks are poured on a complimentary basis at dinner and all non-alcoholic beverages (cold and hot) are always complimentary throughout the cruise. Each ship in the fleet also features an Internet center, a Carita of Paris spa, and sophisticated entertainment and lecture programs.
