Best time to visit Australia & South Pacific
No matter when you visit Australia and the South Pacific, you'll enjoy temperate weather and welcoming locals. Australia's Southern Hemisphere location means the seasons are reversedour winter is their summer, and our summer is their winter. The islands of the South Pacific have two main seasons: wet (NovemberApril) and dry (MayOctober). Most travelers prefer the dry season because it lacks the humidity and heavy rains.
Peak Season: The holiday seasons tend to be busy, as most locals travel during this time. Rates in the resort areas tend to rise during December, January, and again near Easter.
Value Season: During Australia's summer, the north may be uncomfortably warm. Visit Australia in mid-April to late August to take advantage of great airfare deals and temperate weather along the coasts and into the Outback. Visit Sydney and Melbourne from December through early April for great hotel rates, as most residents travel to the shores during these months.
