Asador Frontón I
Tirso de Molina 7, (entrance on Jesus y Maria, 1), Madrid, Spain

Phone 91/369-1617

Fine meat and fish are the headliners here. Uptown, Asador Frontón II is swankier, but this downtown original is more charming. Appetizers include anchoas frescas (fresh grilled anchovies) and pimientos rellenos con bacalao (peppers stuffed with cod). The huge chuletón (T-bone steak), seared over charcoal and sprinkled with sea salt, is for two or more; order cogollo de lechuga (lettuce hearts) to accompany. The kokotxas de merluza (hake jowls) are supremely light and aromatic. Reservations essential. Other location: Pedro Muguruza 8, Chamartín, Madrid, Spain, PHONE:91/345-3696.
