Fauchon
26 pl. de la Madeleine, Paris, France

Phone 01-47-42-60-11

Fauchon is the most famous and iconic of all Parisian food stores. Established in 1886, it sells renowned pâté, honey, jelly, and private-label champagne. Hard-to-find foreign foods (U.S. pancake mix, British lemon curd) are also stocked, and delectable pastries and chocolates are served in the café. Prices can be eye-popping -- chocolates for EUR70 a pound, marzipan fruits for EUR95 a pound -- but who can nay-say that soigné, top-of-the-line Fauchon chocolate box, whose cover bears an antique engraving of place de la Madeleine. Métro: Madeleine.
