Hugging the California coast just above the Mexican border, San Diego has a gentle climate, excellent natural resources, and an endless, beautiful coastline. And yet America's seventh-largest city—overshadowed by its Golden State cousins Los Angeles and San Francisco—has never quite gotten the respect it deserves.
