When to go
Big Pacific storms often provide deep coverage by Thanksgiving or earlier. Expect rates to be higher during holidays and the peak season (January to February), with great deals on lodging and lift tickets for early season (November to mid-December) and spring skiing (late March and early April).

Western U.S. ski destinations
- Skiers at Big Sky can now buy a joint ticket that provides access to Moonlight Basin, a new adjacent resort on Lone Peak’s north side.
- After spending millions on base-area improvements, both Heavenly and Squaw Valley finally have first-class base areas with good restaurants, fine shops, and walk-to-lift lodging.
- In Jackson Hole, a new double chair and greater capacity on the other lifts will mean faster access from the base to the upper mountain. The resort’s legendary tram is now closed, but a new aerial tram is scheduled to open in 2008.
- At Sun Valley, guests who purchase a multi-day lift ticket can now exchange any single day for a variety of alternative activities, including ice skating, snowshoeing, and Sunday brunch for two.
