Overview

There is a 7% Goods and Services Tax and 8% Ontario sales tax in Toronto. Save receipts from hotel bills and any major purchases, and ask for the refund forms at the airport, at visitor information booths like the one outside Eaton Centre, or at stores.

Gallery strolls are fun in either of two major districts -- the Yorkville area, and the Queen Street area, west of University Avenue. You can also check out some of the commercial art galleries on the north side of Dundas Street, across from the Art Gallery of Ontario, many of which display classical and contemporary Chinese paintings. Most galleries are open Tuesday through Saturday, 10 AM-5 or 6 PM.
