Venice has its share of famous places for a nightcap or an aperitif, none more so than Harry's Bar, once a favorite haunt of Hemingway's. If you want to follow in such illustrious footsteps, though, you'll pay for the privilege. The place was an old rope works when the father of the current owner, Arrigo Cipriani, bought it with the help of a loan from an American named Harry Pickering. Step inside the cozy, wood-paneled cocktail bar to join the crowds sipping Bellinis, a treat not to be missed if you happen to visit during peach season (June to early September). The trademark drink is made with fresh white peach juice stirred into sparkling prosecco. (Little green "shake-and-pour" Bellinis sold in town compare to the real thing like concentrated orange juice does to succulent oranges.).
