|Best time to visit Washington, D.C.|
When Congress is in session (September–November and January–June), expect everything to get a bit more crowded and pricey. The most popular (and expensive) time to visit D.C. is generally from March through June, when the combination of cherry trees blooming, beautiful spring weather, and the educational opportunities of watching Congress in action draw many tourists to the city. During July and August, the weather can be hot and humid, but there are great deals available and far fewer crowds to negotiate. For times with good weather and few crowds, try early September or December.
Peak Season: From March through June, expect higher rates as tourists flock to the city for the cherry blossoms and Congress finishes up its session.
Value Season: September and December are your best bets for great hotel deals and shorter lines. July and August are also good for travel bargains, but expect humid weather.
