Portugal dos Pequenitos is the Little Portugal area that features tiny versions of the country’s most iconic landmarks. It is a fun and educational facility, where kids can find out about the cornerstones of Portuguese culture. Snap photos of your favorite tiny structures as you recognize these models of famous houses and monuments.

Visit the various exhibits providing information about the miniature houses in this park. It is a popular location for school groups, due to its educational tone. Examine the structures in the Monumental Area to see the main landmarks of Lisbon and other regions. For a closer view of Coimbra’s attractions, look at the models in the Coimbra area, which represents its university campus and other sights.

Learn about the country’s marine and colonial history. Get a glimpse into the country’s effect on the rest of the world through the pavilions and monuments that reflect the cultures of Portuguese colonies. These include Brazil, Angola and Mozambique, among other nations.

Come for some of the temporary exhibitions that take place throughout the year, such as a display of miniature period furniture or a showing of the nation’s musical heritage. Spend time in the Museum of the Costume to view the 300 small pieces that reflect the evolution of fashion over the centuries.

Stroll through the scenic gardens on a pleasant summer afternoon. Relax in the café with drinks and refreshments. You can also bring a basket of food for a picnic.

The park was inaugurated in 1940, with diminutive versions of homes, chapels and mills. There is an entrance fee for adults, with discounts for kids. The site opens daily from morning until late afternoon.

Portugal dos Pequenitos is on the quieter western side of the Mondego River, near the heart of Coimbra. Walk southwest from Coimbra Railway Station for 15 minutes to reach the attraction. Visit nearby sights, such as the Coimbra University Stadium, the Pedro and Inês Footbridge and the Mosteiro de Santa Clara.
