EXCELLENT

We had a great stay at the InterContinental, very easy access to the Metro, 5 min walk to Old Montreal and Port, Chinatown, St Catherine Street also not very far. The Hotel is refurbished with a very modern feel , the room was quiet and very comfortable.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

get the 3 day mueseum/metro pass its $50.00 per person but well worth it. a lot of the museums are closed on Mondays.

under construction without notification

hotel will be nice. However, when we checked in, they put us in rooms a few floors above construction. we were woken up at 6am and had to change rooms. complimentary coffee meant you are lucky if you get it, too bad if you don’t - you can walk 5 blocks to buy a cup. wish i would have known about the construction upon booking and/or when room assignments were made. Staff is politley unhelpful - a lot of shoulder shrugging and "I know’s". good location

Under construction during stay and this should not be a surprise on arrival.

Hotel under significant construction. Reception performed in what may have been the prior bag room or bellman offices. Hotel was dark, resturants that were open were mildly disappointing and not the level of other Intercontinental properties. I was unable to access English language service menus for TV check out or other services. "Inter"continental might be a misnomer, but actual room met expectations for comfort.

Major Remodel - Beware until July 2009

I think this is normally a very nice, upscale place in a great location. They failed to mention they are in a MAJOR remodel. There was no lobby, no main entry, one elevator, holes in the wall, lots of chemical smells, had to climb over construction supplies, etc. Not really what you might expect from a 5 star place. Don’t bother until after remodel is finished.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

New Cirque du Soleil show just a few blocks away. Great but touristy area. Learning a tad of French really goes a long way to earning good will.

A lovely hotel with wonderful staff

A lovely hotel with wonderful staff close to the old port city and it’s restaurants and attractions. It was a wonderful weekend getaway. The only downside was that the soon to be finished renovations hamper the staff a little and their formal dining room was not available. However the staff at the Chez Plume are some of the best, anywhere and made up for that. This was my second visit ( the first seven years ago,)and again I left thinking that the staff was extra-ordinary and what a difference they make.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

the hotel is quit central if its a good day fro a walk and if not ..it’s like you have you own Metro at your disposal....so easy a city to get around..

Great hotel

This hotel has spectacular ambience and the staff is spectacular. Located in the heart of downtown it has access to fantastic restaurants and the business district within a short walking distance.
