Upbeat and Friendly
We were there under sad circumstances - Memorial service for my mother. Employees very sensitive, kind and upbeat. Will always stay there on future visits.

Not impressed
Did not like it at all that the moment I showed the front desk people my credit card, they automatically withheld $40.00 a day for EXPENDITURES. This was uncalled for. They also hastled me about leaving the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door for too long. All in all, it was a basic hotel to stay at, with no extra niceties that you have with American hotels for free. They nickel and dimed you to death..

Disappointed with the hotel on this trip
My husband and I have stayed at the Delta Halifax several times in the past and had a good experience. This trip we"upgraded" to a harbour view room. We were given a room on the 1st floor with some veiw. The room seemed dingy and the terrace that we got was one shared by other guests. We had people milling around right in fron of our sliding doors at all hours, drinking and making a lot of noise. Hotel security attempted to deal with the noise but were not very sucessful. At 3:30 AM after a sleepless night I called the desk to request another harbourview room for the next two nights of our stay. They could only say they would try to honor our reguest but could not gaurantee anything. The next call we made was to reserve a room at another harbourfront hotel in Halifax. We left later that morning and enjoyed the rest of our trip at that hotel.
Traveler's tip on local attractions
Ride the Harbour hopper. Visit Citadel Hill. Walk through the city to see all the beautiful historic buildings. Eat wonderful seafood meals at the waterfront resturants. Try some COWs ice cream and shop at the Historic Properties and other boardwalk shops. A day trip to Peggys Cove to see the huge rocks and the light house. It is an experience to remember.
