Not many other options in Guilin
A bit tired and totally lacking character - rooms smell of damp in rainy season, but still the best bet in Guilin if you need some place to retreat to get some recognizably Western food now and again. However, cannot compare on same scale as this level of hotel in Kong Kong or Shanghai so be prepared.

Guilin, China
The Sheraton in Guilin is reasonably well located for enjoying Guilin by foot, cab or tour bus. Unfortunately, unbeknownst to us when booking, the hotel is composed of both new and old sections, the latter farther from the lobby, elevators, restaurant and other conveniences, and is poorly lit and neglected. Yet, when asking about move to newer portion, discovered it required a room upgrade yet the only visible change was a slightly better bed, so we declined. By far our worst hotel experience in China.

nice western style hotel in a great location to experience the old town with a few western comforts. hotel not great but quite satisfactory
