Needs a Facelift!

My parents, husband, and I stayed at the Hotel Mediterraneo during our trip to Sorrento. First to mention, is that the hotel is not actually in Sorrento and if I went back I would probably choose to stay in the city area. The view of the water across the street is absolutely beautiful and that might be harder to find in the city proper. The hotel was nice but needed some updating. The interior of the building, rooms, and pool area were very nice. However, the rooms would profit well from some new furniture (bed was very uncomfortable) and the outside of the building needs some cleaning and a coat of paint. I was a little disappointed with my "sea view room" as the sea view was across the street and a little blocked by trees and other buildings. The breakfast each morning was really nice. The views from the top floor were amazing!

Would highly recommend

This was our second trip to Sorrento, first time at this hotel. It’s a little off the beaten track, but we were very impressed with the hotel from the very beginning. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Despite the fact that we went in March, the hotel property was beautiful and overlooked the ocean. I can only imagine what it looks like when everything is in bloom. If you’re looking to save a few bucks, don’t bother booking an ocean view, the garden view is just as nice. The breakfast buffet had a nice variety of juices, breads, cheeses, and cold cuts. There’s a free hotel shuttle that drops you off just on the outskirts of town. Definitely walkable! There’s free secured parking. There’s also a bus stop right across the street from the hotel. I would definitely go back there in heartbeat!

Traveler's tip on dining

Moonlight Pizzeria had excellent pizza Trattoria Emilia’s in marina grande - excellent seafood pasta and plenty of it! When dining in Italy, your best bet is to order a salad/appetizer to share and then either a pasta dish or pizza. You won’t be disappointed nor will your pocketbook be busted.

Great pool and view of Sorrento, but a too noisy

This hotel had all of the qualities that we were looking for in a hotel along the Amalfi coast. Great views, beautiful pool, easy access to the water. The only problem was that you could hear the first person who woke up in the hotel. Therefore, we were up every day at the crack of dawn...not the restful vacation that we had hoped for. The hotel staff was terrific and provided us with all of the help that we could ask for in arranging tours and finding restaurants.
