Overpriced
Hugely overpriced. I had a small room, dark and with a building site just outside the window. Service couldn’t help. No chanche to stay in the room f.ex.during rain for a nap because of noise from tractors and digging maschines.Ex. Morning of Pentacost the strat was just after 7.00. Bed matrass was old and uneven.

Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is one of those marvelous reminders of a golden age gone by, but with outstanding modern comforts. This is the largest log structure in the world, something the staff is very proud of. Do not let that fool you, it IS a Fairmont Hotel in every respect, at once both rustic and elegant. We recently visited the Montebello for our second time. Our room this trip was not the best in the house but it was still charming and comfortable, if not a little small. The service was outstanding, courteous and friendly, from the bellmen that greet you to the desk staff. The room originally assigned to us had two double beds when we had wanted something larger. In spite of a rather full house they were able to arrange for a queen bed room quickly. The dining room was equally good, with excellent service and a varied menu featuring continental cuisine as well as local game dishes and a fine wine list. The lobby bar is small but service is available throughout the lobby sitting area, which surrounds a massive stone fireplace with six separate openings. The mezzanine level, overlooking the lobby, and fireplace, has many small tables for playing cards or backgammon. Bar service is also available there and we spent hours enjoying the unique ambiance. Sitting there enjoying the piano music from the lobby below you do expect Gatsby to stroll by at any moment. This is a great destination, well worth the trip to a rather out-of-the-way location.
