Excellent hotel when you have to be near the airport.
The hotel was great. The only drawback is the transportation to and from the airport. The recommended taxi service did not pick me up and I had to get a taxi at the airport at double the usual fee. Had no trouble getting back to the airport at the much lower price, however.

Great room, fabulous bathroom... but
I arrived at 7 pm having been on the road all day, so I arrived tired and hungry. I had checked before I booked that I could get meals here. When I checked in at reception I was told the dining room was full.. but I could get a meal in the bar. Great, as I really just wanted to eat and sleep. However when I got to the bar I was told "Sorry, no food." Not even a bar snack. The woman who passed that news on was abrupt and disinterested in the impact on her client - me. However as I was already booked for a second night I did get to eat that night. That meal was pleasant enough. In summary, a very comfortable room and great bathroom. Location was great - handy to Gatwick and it was value for money. Shame about the rude staff.
Traveler's tip on getting the most out of your stay
Catch the shuttle to Gatwick and then the Gatwick Express into London. Fast and easy.

Has character but has issues
We took the H3 bus from the south terminal of the airport, and we dropped off on the street. The entrance was not easy to find, and we ending up going in through the pub. There was no one at the desk, and there was no bell captain to take care of our luggage. Someone finally showed up and we did leave our luggage in the reception area. We went to eat in the pub until check-in. The room was on the first. That was welcomed because of the large suitcases. The room was clean, but there was mold behind the bathroom door and in the shower. The board hiding the tub needed to be repainted. The towel rack was mounted to wall above the tub and in the shower. The towels had to be removed before showing. I would recommend this hotel because of the construction in the common areas. Im glad we didnt drive, because parking was terrible. Cars were jammed in just about every inch of space in the courtyard.
Traveler's tip
If your staying in a hotel to be closer to Gatwick airport, stay at one of the other hotels that have more frequent bus service or take a taxi.
