Who decided this is a 4-star property?
My husband and I travel extensively and it pains me to have to write a negative review, especially since the staff was very welcoming upon check-in. However, from the moment we walked in, we were STUNNED to find the hotel in such shambles. The room was simply a mess. There were mysterious spots on the floor and furniture and the room looked like it had not been dusted or cleaned in a very long time. But, probably the most shameful and embarrassing was the lady who took us to the room had really bad BO. Not a nice thing to say, but honest nonetheless, and it needs to be mentioned, especially it claims to be 4 stars. It is in a prime location, near the ferry dock, beach, near all the better restaurants and just a few minutes away from the local trains that will take you to the Cinque Terre. But even with it being in the best location in Rapallo, my husband and I could not stay there one night. It is the shortest time my husband and I ever stayed in a hotel (just one hour and knew we had to find another place). On the positive side, the staff was genuinely nice, but the hotel is no where near what it claims to be on its brochure and website. I feel badly for the people running this hotel who, although tried to be accommodating, could not accept that the hotel needs a lot of repair & work before it can claim its standing.

Definitely take the ferry to Portofino and Santa Margherita. Rapallo is 1 hr. by train to the Cinque Terre.
