Very Nice!

The motel was right on the Seawall, with a nice view of the Gulf of Mexico. The room was quite large, and clean. The staff was very nice.. The only thing that was not totally first class was the elevators, which need some cosmetics.

Be sure to plan dinner or supper at Guidos. This old Galveston landmark is one of the best seafood restaurants we have ever dined at.

La Quinta Downward Spiral

This is 2nd or 3rd La Quinta I’ve stayed at that has confirmed to me that the chain is in a downward spiral. I believe we booked it due to nothing else being available, and that speaks for itself as well, doesn’t it. The facility was average at best, but the staff needed more coffee or something as well as some social skills beyond being able to talk on their cell phones.

Most comfortable bed of any hotel

Hotel looked new and clean. Free breakfast and it was good. Best thing was the comfortable beds. Also, for a small amount of money, we were able to leave our car in their parking lot while we took a cruise.

Great Price, Great Quality- Don’t Bring Your PET

Great hotel at a great price, however the "dog policy" is HORRIBLE! You can’t leave the dog in the room during anything, in fear of the woman running the hotel calling the dog catcher...

Traveler's tip on dining

Make sure you stop at Guido’s, which is a wonderful dinning expereience with a 4 course meal for under $20.

Hotel was well worth the cost!!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone staying overnight in Galveston. The rooms where clean and confortable. The pool was much nicer than most hotels I’ve been with similar rates. I was impressed with the daily complimentary breakfast selections. They had a nice variety of breakfast foods, however I do think they needed more waffle irons. The lines would get too long sometimes.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

If you want quiet and solitude at the beach, I would recommend staying away from Stewart Beach and the Seawall Blvd. Beach area. There are more secluded beaches "beach pockets" on the west side that are cleaner and less crowded.

Needs work

The hotel was nice, the pool is a good size and the location is ideal. However, the computer was broken the whole time we were there and the staff seemed uninterested in having it fixed. Also, the staff was very unfriendly. I don’t think this hotel is worth the rate we were charged. We won’t return.

Very Comfortable stay in Rebuilding Galveston

I had a very plesant stay. I slept better here than at any other hotel I have ever stayed at. The only drawbacks, were parking, and a long line at breakfast ( which was good once you were able to get something ) ...

Close to the Rainforest cafe, and Moody’s Gardens

Hotel in need up maintenance.

Airconditioner in room was not sufficient to keep room cold. Went to Walmart and bought a fan. Elevator not working and there was no ac in elevators. Hotel is run down and in great need of maintenance. Hallways, stairwells, and tile work in need of maintenance. Hot tub didn’t even work well. There was whole in bathroom door and bathroom tile was in need of repair. An elevator was out and the one that was operating had no ac in it. It looks like at one time this was nice hotel but has not been maintained to high quality and appearnce once was. Very good cleaning staff though. So its upper management that needs to engage here not the staff.

Traveler's tip on recreational activities

If going to seawall, park in Kroger parking lot and walk across. Only place with wheel chair ramp for easy up down access to beach with cooler. Take some meat tenderizer or tums good for jelly fish bites, beach had lots of them. Bring a gallon of fresh water to wash beach off of you when leaving. Get there early they set it up at 8:00 and after that it costs $25 to get spot.

Great Hotel

The rooms were very nice and clean with an ocean view. The staff was polite and the breakfast was really great especially if you are traveling with children. I would stay here again.

This is a family friendly hotel and is close to Moody Gardens

Recovery

This hotel was right on the seawall and in the path of the hurricane. They have done a great job of getting back to business. Very large and comfortable rooms. Elevator was not working yet but breakfast was great. All of Galveston is working hard at rebuilding after the terrible storms and they really appreciate visitors.

Traveler's tip on local attractions

Moody Gardens was open and great. Fabulous food at Gaido’s on the Seawall. Lots of places are open again.

this is a must read

The staff was rude.. When we walked in our room it was very spacious and apperaed nice even thought the staff was rude. When we went to go to the bathroom, we discovered it covered in "crap". All over the toilet and around the toliet. We called the front desk that hung up on us 3 times. On the fourth try they moved us to the room across the hall, it was very musty smelling but was clean other than smell.. beinglate and staying with a 3 yr. old we stayewd in this room. We are very dissatified. The hotel could be very nice but maintained horribly. Others in the Galveston area shared similair stories with us.

Uh it was ok for the price

The overall stay was ok. The hotel was short handed at the front desk. The first room we were give had a smoke scent. We asked for another room and the clerk said that all the rooms were non smoking. I had two children that have breathing problems and they both sensed the smoke as soon as I opened the door. The elevator on th e outside in the gargage was very stuffy and hot. There was no air circulation and in the middle of the hot summer you could hardly stand it. The same elevator was very very slow. The location was perfect for visiting Moody Gardens and Schlitterbaug it was away from the traffic of 64 Street. It was ok for the price since all the other Hotels were so expensive. The breakfast was good but the lines were very long for the waffle maker(2). I didn’t experience but on the elevator two ladies were talking about everytime the would call the front desk, they wouldn’t get an answer they would have to walk to the front desk to get assistance. While they were there a few times the phone just rang and rang. So it’s a 50/50 chance that you will have a good or bad experience. The pool is very small.

Traveler's tip on dining

You have aray of good restuarants to pick from. It is just depending if you want hamburgers, shrimp from the gulf, steaks, pizza.

Satisfactory for the money

View was great from the balcony. Air conditioner could have been cooler. Hot tub and pool were satisfactory.

Very impressive

The room was great, the staff was helpful. The breakfast bar was suppose to close at 9am, but the staff waited until everyone was finished before closing it. The only negative was the slow elevator.

Traveler's tip on dining

Don’t eat at Joe’s Crab Shack. The shrimp were very small, and we left hungry.

Really Nice, Comfortable, easy with Kids!

We had a very comfortable stay. Eduardo hit while we were there and the rain from it seeped into our room. They were a little reluctant at first to change our room, but we insisted and they did. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the waffle breakfast in the mornings was a big hit with my kids. The pool was nice and we really enjoyed our stay.

Not Impressed

Not one room has a view of the ocean, like advertised. Roaches plauge this establishment. Pool and spa very unkept and dirty. Constant construction next door.

Good and comfortable hotel

Very clean and comfortable hotel. The room was actually pretty big (as hotel rooms go). The only downside is the view from the balcony...it was a limited view of the Gulf and I actually had the good side of the hotel (the other side was a view of construction next door).

Construction outside my window EVERY morning at 7a.m

Didn’t get any rest due to construction EVERY MORNING at 7am sharp...no view outside of my door other than a crew of workers hollering, banging, and working...left a day early...Jaccusi was broken and couldn’t use it at night...elevator didn’t work half the time and the ice machines didn’t work on our floor.
